Hi there
Well I had planned to do one more track day on the PS2's but it would appear the last track day finished them off, was down to just over 2mm on the inner tread but one of the rears develop a small egg on the sidewall which was enough of a worry to not risk another track day on them especially when the plan was. To fit the Super Sports in September anyway. I suspect the egg on the sidewall was due to them been part worms and no doubt quite old, there's a chance it's not but performance tyres don't normally develop eggs on sidewalls and it's no doubt because that tyre was abused by a previous owner, maybe ran under pressured causing sidewall damage.
So I am now £1200 lighter and wearing Super Sports all round.
First impressions are:-
- Quieter ride over both PS2's and Rossos
- Wet grip seems mine boggling, still can't believe it
- Dry grip not yet convinced, they feel squishy/greasy, but still will be getting rid of release agent and scrubbing in.
So wet grip wise not known anything like, it's a bit mind boggling with tons of feedback and suspect with a few hundred miles on them they will improve. I've never experience wet grip like this before to be honest!
Noise wise, they are so quiet and so smooth, big improvement.
Dry well turn in not quite as sharp and dry grip still feels a tad greasy as only done about 100 miles on them. Certainly better than Rossos but PS2 felt better but they were on 2-4mm tread and well scrubbed in and theses still need to scrub in, so won't say they are worse yet and tomorrow's track day should give the answer.
They are also 300 tread wear and not 220 tread wear like the PS2s and Rossos were and Michelin claim they last longer, so let's see.
