Hi there

Well I had planned to do one more track day on the PS2's but it would appear the last track day finished them off, was down to just over 2mm on the inner tread but one of the rears develop a small egg on the sidewall which was enough of a worry to not risk another track day on them especially when the plan was. To fit the Super Sports in September anyway. I suspect the egg on the sidewall was due to them been part worms and no doubt quite old, there's a chance it's not but performance tyres don't normally develop eggs on sidewalls and it's no doubt because that tyre was abused by a previous owner, maybe ran under pressured causing sidewall damage.

So I am now £1200 lighter and wearing Super Sports all round.

First impressions are:-
- Quieter ride over both PS2's and Rossos
- Wet grip seems mine boggling, still can't believe it
- Dry grip not yet convinced, they feel squishy/greasy, but still will be getting rid of release agent and scrubbing in.

So wet grip wise not known anything like, it's a bit mind boggling with tons of feedback and suspect with a few hundred miles on them they will improve. I've never experience wet grip like this before to be honest!

Noise wise, they are so quiet and so smooth, big improvement.

Dry well turn in not quite as sharp and dry grip still feels a tad greasy as only done about 100 miles on them. Certainly better than Rossos but PS2 felt better but they were on 2-4mm tread and well scrubbed in and theses still need to scrub in, so won't say they are worse yet and tomorrow's track day should give the answer. :)

They are also 300 tread wear and not 220 tread wear like the PS2s and Rossos were and Michelin claim they last longer, so let's see. :)

Gibbo, if they are gripping well in the wet I'd say you've scrubbed the release agent off enough. Release agent + water = very slippery generally. How deep is the tread on new tyres? As the tyres wear you may find things firm up a bit as there is less rubber to flex around on. Lets hope it does or it could mean that the sidewalls are a little too soft for your personal liking.

Myself I like the Potenza range for that reason. Whilst I only have a 306 gti-6 (large sidewall tyres so rigidity is important) I had some Potenzas fitted and the whole car was transformed. Crisp turn in, no feel of driving on greasy / bowl of jelly when turning the wheel slightly left / right / left / right etc. Bridgestone stopped selling those though so I went back to Proxies, I hate them :(

After a good beasting on the track lets hope they start to perform more like you hope they should.

I remember my PS2's took about 500-1000 miles before they scrubbed in on the dry. After that they were immense, so most likely the super sports will be the same.

Hi, are the PS3's any better, worse or the same. My new car is coming with them fitted and I'd like to know a bit about them if possible...

PS3's are successor to PE2 I believe, certainly not better than ps2, the super sport replaces ps2.

On track now and super sports big thumbs up! :D

Totally epic tyres on the track, both in the wet and dry, very very impressive bits of kit, go off a bit with high tyre pressures though!

Aye very very happy with their performance on track, definetely superior to the PS2 and they definetely work best at 37-38psi hot on track. But they don't try to kill you above 42psi like the PS2's did. :)

So better in the wet, better on track, still to comment on dry road performance but judging by track performance they should be better, still unsure about turn-in, but time will tell now they scrubbed in, but it could just be due to extra tread depth.

Still even if turn in is quite not PS2 levels, its minor and the other improvements with this tyre are far more dramatic, so very happy with them. :)
