Hi ive just bought a PowerColor HD4870 1GB GDDR5 from the bay, yeah i know it needs a fan but i was going to put a Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro Cooler on it

But after ive looked at and the reviews of the card and Pics mine seems different to the ones on review as the cooler doesnt seem to cover the board ans much as they do on the review

Any of u guys got any ideas thxs hope ive not bought a dud again

*No competitor links please!*

It could be a second revision PCB or something. The VRM are a lot closer to the power connectors and there are a number of component differences but it doesn't resemble a 4850 PCB or anything.

edit...

Anyway did a quick search for rev 2 and came up with this...

compared with what you have, which incidentally seems to be resized with incorrect width/height ratio so appears shorter...

So in summary you have a rev 2 board and that's why it looks different.

advert is confusing somewhat

Pretty sure the 4870 didn't come with GDDR5 more like GDDR3

but the spec sheet states for a 5870 which will come with GDDR5 ram

Post a picture of your card? if you can

Don't the ATI/AMD drivers tell you how much memory your card has ??

I know my Nvidia drivers does as they say this
"Dedicated video memory: 1536 MB GDDR5"

Got one of these on my flatmates 4850, it's a brilliant cooler. May get one for my 4890 too ;-))
