I used to play PC games up until a couple of years ago when I moved onto xbox, when my PC went in for repair then got dropped by certain purple shirted people, I decided to get something slightly better, after blowing twice my original budget on a gaming machine, I'm going to be on the lookout for new games for PC to play.

Basically I've played most console games, at least the ones that interested me so I'm looking for either PC exclusives or ones that are so much better on PC they can't be missed.

I enjoy games where you can really get stuck in to the action, that's not to say specifically action games, I enjoy anything with big battles, close racing (though I'd rather avoid racing on PC, I don't have room to set up my wheel and don't think keyboard and mouse is the right setup for it), things that make you think and use strategies without making it long winded.

I enjoy MMOs, so I'm looking forwards to TOR, I might renew my WoW subscription, FF14 seemed crap, anything else in that theme? I might get CoD:BO since I like that on ps3 and MW kept me playing for ages on PC. Also Skyrim is on my "to get" list.

Something else that's maybe not quite as important but would still be nice is games with great graphics, I'll be running a 6970 and the machine should be quite capable, so it'd be nice to show it off a bit with something flashy.

Thanks

Dragon Age Origins + expansion and all DLCs if you haven't done those yet.

Also Half-Life 2 + Episodes 1&2.

That will get you started. :)

Team Fortress 2 is awesome fun on PC. And of course upcoming BF3. Any FPS is better on mouse and keyboard :)

As for racing on PC, a XBox controller works natively. It's much better than M&K but usually not the best games to showcase PC power.

Strategies. Lots of strategies. And some cRPGs. And simulators. And games that are highly moddable. MMOs. Tycoons.

Whatever floats your boat.

I'm out of date with RTS games, what's good and fairly easy to pick up (my greatest failing at games is RTS lol).

What's a cRPG?

I'm not big on tycoon and simulators (with the exception of racing).

Try Company of Heroes if you haven't played it yet.

CRPG stands for Computer Role-Playing Game. Just your not-so-common term for RPGs.

Grab yourself Metro 2033 unless you have it on 360 if you want something to show off the power of your new PC, it's only a fiver on Steam at the minute.

Shogun 2: Total War and The Witcher and its sequel are fantastic PC exclusives and will keep you hooked for weeks.

Your not really going to find lots of exclusive PC titles outside of indie games but to be fair an exclusive on any platform is rare these days due to high costs of producing titles these days. Saying that any 8 times out of 10 cross platform games always look better on PC and then there's the modding community that you just don't get for console titles.

if you are willing to put in the time for ARMA II then it gets my vote, however, its a lot more difficult than the point and squirt black ops, especially if your trying to fly anything.

if you want an FPS to show off your PC graphics then crysis and crysis warhead are the obvious choices and are fairly cheap too.

as for driving games, you can technically use a wired xbox controller but out of the 4 or 5 that ive tried only need for speed world worked well with it. the problem with that is need for speed world is utter turd (it was free and i feel ripped off).

other than that im a bit stumped because i havent played many PC games myself. if you dont mind having poorer graphics (slightly worse than far cry @Max) then thief deadly shadows is a great sneaking game, and one of the few games that doesnt feel like a linear path with cutscenes every five minutes

I'll check out metro, I've looked at it for xbox but I've not really heard anything about it and lack of multiplayer put me off. I have crysis but it used to crash on my old system so I'll have to give that another go.

What is it about arma that takes time? I've seen it before but obviously wasn't looking at PC games, it seemed similar to operation flashpoint though.

I'll have to check out starcraft 2, I have friends from WoW that play it too! I'll take a look at your other suggestions too, thanks everyone!

Still open to more suggestions, I'm pretty open minded and will be buying a few games to get me started on the PC again.

For new RTS Shogun 2: Total war gets another vote here.
Company of Heroes and Men of War are excellent WW2 RTS and CoH is arguably one of the best RTS ever made.
I know you say you don't like sims but Anno 1404 is well worth a try as it has great gameplay and lush graphics.
