Torchwood - Dr Who Spin off

I hate the attitude of 'it's no good because nobody dies' almost as much as i hate how boring some shows are because of it. I mean, making good entertainment shouldn't be a case of following a set of instructions.

I don't think Lost regularly killed anyone off until the end.
There was Mr Echo, and the hobbit fella, but the rest waited until the final series did they not?
Maybe my memory is fading.

Anyway, BSG was great :)

Per season, at least one member of the original plane crash/cast died in each season of LOST.

Thats also not counting any new main characters/cast members that were introduced after in season 2 or onwards who also died.

There were plenty.

I managed to guess what the modules were going to be used for before the reveal, not sure if I should be proud of that considering it's not the best written show out there.

At this point it doesn't matter how awful the writing gets, I have to finish watching it just for the sake of it.
Yeah wasn't exactly a massive twist, the Final Solution was always going to be that.

I was expecting something slightly more sci-fi than fire, maybe high intensity radiation bursts to obliterate them or beaming them off planet as food for some creature. The fire was a bit of a let down.

I assume though this is supposed to be something more realistic than the usual scifi style. I'm thinking it will go one of two ways at the end, either it'll all just be a big human conspiracy or they will finally bring in weird aliens as the protragonists... I'm guessing the former unfortunately. Personally I think burning the "dead" is a pretty realistic option and something that makes sense, unless of course they don't actually die from this (which could be a plot twist) and its only found out later?

I don't get why people hate it so much. Yes it would be a bit better with a few more aliens and paranormal things like the original but it's certainly not boring. It's quite well paced IMO, although I admit I would have liked it to be an series theme in the background rather than just this being the mystery.

One thing i find interesting is the difference between British and American shows, we're not afraid to kill off main characters and make things appear hopeless, the good guys don't always win or get a perfect outcome in the end.

I take it you're american, considering they just did...

(well.. maybe...)

I think it was the big **** off chimneys and the soot which kind of gave the game away with the modules.

The opening credits always remind me of the Steve Coogan pool security guard from the Day Today

"Well, I would say this - I've been working here for 18 years, and in 1975 no one died. In 1976, no one died. In 1977, no one died. In 1978, no one died. In 1979, no-one died. In 1980... some one died. In 1981, no one died. In 1982 there was the incident with the pigeon. In 1983, no one died. In 1984, no one died. In 1985, no one died. In 1986... I mean, I could go on."

I am trying to like the program cos I very much liked the previous Torchwood, hopefully it will pick up again towards the end, but it has to be said there was virtually no storey in the last episode.

What? There are loads of US shows where good guys die regularly (All Joss Whedon shows for example)

Latest episode was much better than any so far, sorely needed as it was lacking.
No surprise considering there was nothing on Oswald and that freak Kitzinger being repeated for a 5th time, Matheson's in your face approach or Drummond's constant whinging/crying/self worth issues.

Just hope the last few keep the pace up, for what should have been a 3-4 episode special.
Pretty sure if you'd ever tell someone to watch it you could skip the middle episodes completely.

i loved Torchwood, but this series just doesn't feel like Torchwood in any way shape or form anymore, and the plot is so dragged out over the episodes's with hardly any action that i think it's a disgusting that they even allowed us the viewers to watch it.
