When's the next gen due?

I currently own a 470, which i picked up to replace a 280 around a year ago, as it had close to twice the performance of the 280 which was my prev Nvidia card, which i picked up when it launched

I have seen the new 580 etc, and while this offers a decent boost, over a 470, it's not like the 80 to 90 % of the 280 to 470 upgrade, since it's basically a tarted up version the same hardware, much like the 285 version of the 280

My question is when are Nvidia expected to release there next gen cards?

Keplar 28nm is due i think in Q2 2012 due to some delays about leakage or some dribble

I cant wait though as on paper they are beasts!

Agree with your reasoning, not worth upgrading from 470 to 560\570\580 etc, I'm also gonna wait for the new stuff.

AMD flagship probably 2012 Q1, and NVIDIA flagship probably 2012 Q2.

It is but I personally doubt they'll include the flagship card so early on. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if I'm just going to have to wait until March next year to upgrade my 5850 rather than do so a month or two after the first 7000 cards are released to ensure I get the best of the price-performance ratio.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, although I also run at 2560x1440 res.

I'm kind of worried my card won't be able to keep up well at that res with new releases of games coming out this year.

Sadly it's already rumored to be for q2 2012, which is such a long wait.
I'm hoping that manage at the latest q1 2012.

Other wise I might have to consider AMD, which I don't really want to.
