Afternoon OCUK.
I enjoy looking at unboxing threads, so here is my contribution back :).
I have received two nice new Dell U2412M monitors.

Boxes.

U2412M on the right and old Samsung 245B on the left (paused LOTR: Two Towers to show picture differences).

Both U2412M screens set up (for size reference the tv is 47 inches).

The colours of the U2412M and viewing angles are SO much better than the Samsung 245B (bought from OCUK in August 2007 for 320 pounds).
I have no dead, stuck or bright pixels :).

EDIT: I was impressed with how easy it was to attach the stand - You simply clip it on!

Nice, get one more and you can play with eyefinity! :D

I tried with the old Samsung, but Windows 7 won't let me use 3 screens the way I want (two DVI and one HDMI with a DVI adaptor on). Won't buy a cable just to dabble with it. Tbh I don't wany Eyefinity as I would need a second GPU and that is just even more £ gone!

Looks good, you've tempted me now!

I paid £280 each including UPS delivery. Topcashback has registered a further £25 per screen to come to me too :D.
I tried BC2 with the Dell U2412M next to the Samsung 245B. I noticed no difference in how the game played at all. No ghosting or trailing. I kicked ass just as well as I did with the VA Samsung, so no lagging issues bad enough to stop be being pro :).

When on ME1 (at this point the two Dell screens were set up and the Samsung was banished to the corner of the room) I noticed a touch of blurring around the main character's head when running along, but this may be the same with the Samsung - I really was having to look hard to see the blurring, just to see if the 'IPS is crap for gaming' brigade were right.
They aren't :D.

I have updated the U2412M reviews thread too :).

from what I've read the 3rd screen has to be attached with a dp not a dvi/hdmi, doesn't matter if you have 1 raphics card or 2 its still the same.

I was thinking about getting one of these now anad 1/2 more in the future but ended up deciding on the u2711(£570 new with 3yrs warranty, well 2yrs 8months going by the dispatch date on the box), might still get one or more in the future.

To connect 3 monitors you need to use at least one display port connection, and I can't be sure, but I think you can only use one DVI output at a time.

So use the HDMI (with DVI adaptor), one DVI, and a mini-Display Port output on your graphic card to connect to the DVI ports of 2 monitors and the displayport of a third.

One of the reasons I like the u2412M is their native display port connections - no need to find an active adaptor for them.

You can use the 2 DVI connections plus DisplayPort.
