Just after I parked up in the Oracle yesterday, I watched 3 girls in a MK4 Golf attempting to park nose-in to a very narrow space. I watched as they scraped the rear bumper of the Passat that was parked next to them. Nice sound it was.
I challenged the driver who's attitude was quite shocking. Firstly one of the passengers tried to deny it happened. Then when I showed her the damage and the mirror image damage on the side of her car, she brushed off the paint dust and seemed to not be bothered.
I took pictures of the damage and the two number plates. I then told them to leave their details for the other driver. They got a bit shirty at this point and the driver said "I will, I'm really quite insulted that you are standing here, it's none of your business. I'm an honest person".
I walked off, waited 15 minutes and then went back to the Passat. What a surprise, no details left and no sign of the golf.
I left a note with my contact details expalining what had happened and that I had photographs etc and would be happy to act as witness for insurance.
Later that day, I got an SMS from the driver of the Passat thanking me for the info. He or she is going to get the car down to VW and do it through insurance.
Now, if the girls had left a note, they could probably have just paid for the repair and been done with it. It was only a small scuff so would have been probably £200 to fix. As it is, because of their dishonesty, it's now going to go through insurance and the driver will be screwed. She looked to be 18 tops so I'm guessing her insurance premium is about £1 million anyway.
