Is this normal? I've only just received this new refurb mbp from Apple, after sending a faulty one back.

I've checked the battery and I can't see any visible signs of swelling or bulging. It's only had 10 charge cycles in total.

Here's some pics, but it's difficult to tell. There's a slight rim, which you can feel.

Or am I just being paranoid having had bad luck with the other mbp :/ lol

are the screws in the bottom tight ?

Yep very tight. I've booked an appointment at the Bullring store for this afternoon anyways so they can check it over. I need to get them to order in a new light indicator anyways as a few of the tiny LEDs are dead.

I'll let ya know how I get on!

lol just take the screws out and reseat it.

Already tried that a few times mate :)

I've had 4 unibody MacBook Pros and this is the only one I can recall not being flush around the battery area so I want it checking over since I've only just had it.

Should sit flush:

It looks flush to me in the images you posted, I'm sure you are correct and there is an issue but I can't see it. I have to say I had a similar issue with my iPad 2 on nthe front bezel where there is a plastic rim between the metal and glass screen, one section was a little loose. No one could see it except me.

Well I've just got back from brum and the genius said the battery was fine, however I could have the top case replaced due to a couple of the LEDs being dead, which should indirectly fix the flush finish 'issue'. I didn't put it in for repair yet as I thought I'd have a think first as it means taking it all apart :s however he did say I could get it changed anytime within the warranty period and added a few notes to the serials account.

which LEDs mean that it needs a full top case ?

On the sleep indicator light 2 or three of the tiny white LED's are dead. It makes it look like it's two lights if you look very closely.

I've booked another appointment for friday anyways so I've got a bit of time to think, but I'll most probably just get it repaired. My only concern is how competent they are as to not ruin anything else.

If its under warrenty and they ruin the laptop (which is unlikely) they will have to replace it. Apple are usually very good with replacing faults, especially ones they cause during a repair.
