Alright guys,

I'm 31 and weigh just over 12 stones. Around 5 11" tall.
Dont really do anything physical. Having got the time to go to the gym due to work.

Got a pot belly and love handles and I want to get rid of them.

Whats the best and quickest way of going about it?

Going to start running on a night and do around 2/3 miles. This will involve jogging and intensity running.

Obviously cut out all the crap and fast food i eat and go easy on the alcohol too. Eat a lot of fruits and greens.

Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Would like to go from 12 stones to around 10.5 stones in 3/6months.

At 5ft11 you're not going to look too great at 10 stone! You'll look pretty damn skinny and not "toned" like I imagine you want to look. I'm 5ft10 and am sitting at around 70KG/11st at the moment and although I have just started to get visible abs I still have a weak, puny frame :o

Get yourself into a decent weight training routine. This way you'll build muscle which will increase your metabolism and you'll burn calories that way. Sure, get on the cardio as well to accelerate things slightly, but hit the weights.

i can guarantee you will never reach your goals, how i came to this conclusion is from your attitude, from the phrase "Having got the time to go to the gym due to work".

make time or dont bother at all, also diet will be key rather than training for fat loss but training will help mould your body rather than looking like a pencil thin twig.

It's scary how light you end up to be lean. One of my uni mates is I think 5'10" or 11" and pretty 'swole', but he only weighs 79kg. I would honestly place him about 85-90 even accounting the fact he's constantly 10-13% (with no effort on his half!).

Go and look how hench some welterweight fights look, then suddenly realise just how little muscle/much fat you actually have :p.

Those fighers are probably closer to 6-8kg heavier than their fight weight category, Denis Siver in that pic is 75kg for instance. It's deceptive to say those guys are 70 and 77kgs when come fight night they would be back to anywhere from 10-20lbs heavier.

Yeah sure they will get back some water weight etc. after the weigh in, I wouldn't think it more than 3-5 kg though? Assuming weigh in is 24h before fight. Tommy Speers in the bottom pic is at the weigh in, should be bang on 170lbs.

A dehydrated Tommy Speers yeah, but within 24 hrs he'll be nearly a stone heavier. GSP on fight night against Jake Shields was 192lbs, he was 170 at the weigh ins 24 hrs before. I could post a pic of GSP at '77kg' but it's deceptive because what you're really looking at is a guy close to 85kg severely dehydrated.

Sorry to OP for taking this off topic.

Can you really regain 10kg of pretty much just water that quickly? Wow, didn't know that.
