It's new car time. Spec me!

Dare I say that Fox is being a troll? If I dare have a thread in motors he always finds reason to pick.

By getting on a bit is I mean mechanically and mileage.. OLder car it is yes, but it's what I want. Can't say anything more than that.

Fox trolling?

Nonsense!

:o

This is one of the occasions where all of the stars have aligned and me and Fox share an opinion.

Saying that your Mini is getting on a bit, and then announcing that you've bought an older Volvo is a bit... Strange to say the least.

I'm stumped how anybody could think a 54plate 84k mile Mini is "Getting on a bit"

And 54 plate Mini to an 03 Plate Volvo? as a "new" car?

Sorry west, I don't think you did that quite right.

Maybe that's because pure logic doesn't necessarily dictate car purchasing decisions. Going on pure logic I shouldn't have a Lotus sitting outside but I do.

It's not so much the purchasing decision (I would take the Volvo over the Mini every day of the week) but the bizarre reasons behind the decision.

Well at the end of the day he is happy and has £900 in his pocket so overall it isn't that bad.

Does it really matter ?

At least he's not got himself in any further debt.

I had a similar ribbing when i traded in my vectra and fox, you were the first to jump in with the "out of the frying pan and into the fire comments" yet my ownership of the volvo has been nothing of the sort.

What is the need to part exchange your car everytime? MINIs are pretty easy to shift 2nd hand, I'm sure you could have ended up with a much bigger cheque! In fact, I can't help but think that the whole thing could have easily been done with you having a cheque for twice as much with just a small bit of effort.

I hope you enjoy it though, looks like a clean example!

Precisely. It would also have allowed him to spend more on the purchase, not quite sure what the rush to change was as well? Sound like he'd already decided on the Volvo and just needed to post to confirm he'd made the right choice.

Still, what's done is done I suppose.

The Volvo looks very clean tbh, and I'm sure it'll suit the OP just fine.

As alluded to above though, I am puzzled why he chopped the Mini in, the dealer must be laughing!

Did it have an impending big bill looming or something? - to my mind, you've done yourself out of a wad of cash that the dealer will no doubt enjoy spending. :(
