Hi all,

Bit of an odd one here, but when i was out on my bike today (only second time ive used it since i bought it) i noticed it made a sort of long beep / squealing sound at around 4k rpm, for around 5 seconds, then stopped... it then did it again for quite some time (around 1 minute or longer, even at idle it continued) then stopped and didnt do it again...

The bike has no running issues at all, it doesnt splutter or anything, and theres certainly no lack of power or anything... really confused as to what could cause it.

No lights for warnings on dash either (no FI light or anything while beeping) no fuel light on etc.

Anyone got any ideas what it is, or is it quite normal?

What temp was the bike at whilst it was making these noises?

Maybe check it's not just the fan kicking in. My K7 600 used to make a noise like you describe when the fan kicked in.

around 90-100c i think it was... as i was in sort of slow moving traffic / at a give way for a while when it did it. Now you mention it, it was coming from around that area now that i think back... i wouldnt have thought fans would make such a squealing noise though?

Wasnt coming from the petrol tank? Sometimes on hot days they can squeal a bit. If its deffo linked to the RPM then not sure without hearing or seeing it

I would check the above, I know quite a few Kawasaki that have squealing tank caps, not heard it on a Suzuki though, I would check the water level too make sure that's not over the max(when cold)

fan wont kick in untill about 105
I'll check tonight and see if it happens at around 100-105c

Im pretty sure it wasnt coming from the petrol tank, i lowered my head close to the tank as it was my first thought, but it didnt sound like it was coming from the cap. (It sounds the same pitch as that, though... but much louder, as in, can hear it over 4k RPM with a stubby scorpion can with no baffle...)

Was also deffo going louder with higher RPM, then quieter when revs dropped.

Will check the water level tonight

Got the bike to 105c tonight... fan kicked in, as did the squeal. Found the source, now to stop it doing it... its stupidly loud!

glad you found it buddy, glad I was of some help.

Not sure how you would go about stopping it, I just lived with it!
