Eid Mubarak...!

Over the last month, I thoroughly enjoyed my Chorizo sausage pizzas, and all the other yummy food like pasta, cakes and ham sandwiches that I ate during day time :)
 
Eid's great. Our vessel transited the Suez canal yesterday, and the pilots usually smoke like chimneys, making the bridge look as if it's shrouded in a London fog, but alas, thanks to Eid, they didn't.

This is what i don't undertand, isn't it determine by some form of lunar calander? How can they not know?
Indonesian govt certainly are doing it tomorrow, but everyone had th food and stuff prepped for today, the whole contry sighed and prayed a bit more.

...but is it today or tomorrow? Why is there confusion with the dates every year?
 
Once again again Eid Mubarak all.

Just got back from Prayers... Just had something to eat. It feels weird to eat during the day after 29 days of Fasting...

Because of disagreements on what constitutes the start of a lunar month. Some say it can be done by astronomical calculation, some say someone has to physically see the moon, some say the moon has to be seen with no optical equipment, and the last one I think the moon has to be seen with no optical equipment and reasonably locally (ie not on the other side of the world).

So you get disagreements.

I go with the first because that's the only one that close to guarantees Eid to be the same day for everyone and you can plan for it for booking days off etc.
