Christmas preperations in August - I **** you not

I believe that isn't happening this year because of a few bad eggs last Christmas that failed to send a present, yet were happy to receive theres :(.

That's not official

Yes some people got hard done by and said they wouldn't be taking part, fair enough but you cannot let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

Rise above it and just prevent them from joining in this year.

Thats nothing, my Tesco warehouse has already got those £10 tins in!!

Was just going to say that too :p

We've had them in the warehouse for a few months now - started shipping out to stores recently and I think they're selling at £6.00 or so each ;)

Slightly off topic but I also recall we shipped Easter eggs out on Boxing day last year! :(

Happy Christmas everyone

wait what...

I keep telling myself I will buy all the presents I need around this time of year online, But it never happens.

Haha Easter eggs on Boxing day, that's brilliant ... but true.

So here it is, Merry Christmas! Everybody's having fun.
Look to the future, now its only just begun...uhun...uhun?

Nipped into Tesco and saw them near the door for £5 a tin!

Christmas lost its true meaning decades ago!

Christmas never had any true meaning. It was nothing more than the early church making something up to help it conquer the Roman empire by over-writing their traditional midwinter festival (Saturnalia) and the later add-on from Mithraism (Sol Invictus).

Not only that, but a couple of millenia ago some Romans were complaining about Saturnalia being commercialised and having lost its true meaning.

The midwinter festival has always been at heart about trade and partying. Religion is just an add-on trying to use the midwinter festival to gain power.

Try working Christmas in retail. It's pure undiluted evil, makes you completely sick of everything, everyone AND they don't even let you book holiday time off which means I haven't been able to visit my parents for Xmas the past few years. Not doing it to myself again this year.

i utterly love christmas, especially now my daughter is a little bit older and can enjoy it with us, might put my tree up this evening

I simply skived two Christmases in a row, and then quit a week before the third :D

I had reasons, but the managers were raging.

On the fist time I actually did tell a manager that I would be going home for Xmas, and she said 'Sure, dont worry about it, I'll write it down as leave for you'.

The silly bint forgot to do that, so I ended up going home for a week while no one knew where I was lol.

Last year the decorations and tree went up in one of my local Tesco's during the first week of October. I almost felt like complaining. I expect to see it earlier this year.

Now I only do my Xmas shopping online. I simply can't face shops during that period. Utterly grim. :(

I swear that working for Tesco has given me an utter hatred for Christmas. The stupidly early prep for Christmas, the un-ending stream of miserable people etc etc etc. I escape the worst of it now that I have changed departments & spend the majority of my working day out of the store but the damage is done.

As already pointed out the Christmas chocolates are already out on the shelves & the *x* many pay days before Christmas board came out in July :( I shop in Morrisons & I can swear they were playing Christmas music last week, I couldn't believe it as I walked in!

I worked for 4 years at The Disney Store - imagine what that was like at Christmas :D

Most Christmases consisted of conversations such as:

Harassed mother with screaming kid: Do you have any Buzz Lightyears/Lightning McQueen RC cars/Cinderella costumes?
Me No, sorry, we've sold out of them I'm afraid.
Harassed mother Will you be getting any more in?
Me No, sorry, it's 23rd December, we had our last delivery this morning and won't be getting another until the day after Boxing Day.
Mother But Little Johnny/Janie has got his/her heart set on it for Christmas!

*Cue long rant by harassed mother as if it's my personal fault that they came on 23rd December for something their child desperately wants, and it's my personal fault that their child's Christmas/life is ruined.*

As a business we really went over and above to try and get people products they wanted, to the extent that our manager who lived in Sheffield would often have a car full of stock to drop off at our Meadowhall store for customers on her way home from work, but Christmas just made people CRAZY!

We'd have people banging on the shutters after we'd shut on Christmas Eve asking if they could just come in to get something their child wanted for Christmas... We all just wanted to get the Boxing Day sale stuff sorted and GTFO!

Judging by the OP's post you'd think people would have enough time to get sorted for Christmas :D
