Slightly dramatic title for the content but could not think of a better way to word it.

I recently bought an item from a second hand seller on the rainforest. Condition was described as "very good" I recieved it and if I was being nice I would class the quality as "**** poor"

Its a second hand book and legible so I will keep the product as I just want to read it but I left negative feedback on the sellers page. They have contacted me whining about it at first asking me to change my review, I politely told them to **** off. They came back and offered me a full refund if I remove my review.

What would you do? Personally I am leaving it up, it's only £10 and reading through other reviews others have had the same problems and I would rather my review helped others stay away, or get the seller to clean up their act, then have a tenner in my pocket.

i personally wouldn't

but i would have contacted the seller prior to leaving negative feedback about the state of the item with hopes to sort it out without the need for leaving negative comments, only after that if their actions did not remedy the issue would negative feedback be left

Tell them you will amend the review to say that you were offered a full refund as a good will gesture because of your disappointment at the quality of the book and see what he says.

Other than that I would leave the review as is.

I'd do the same thing. It's only a tenner.

I've used the rainforest site for years. The majority of what I buy online comes from their members' market. I rely on accurate feedback to make informed decisions.

That being said I bend my principles for money all the time at work.

I wouldn't take the money, and I'd leave the review up.

It's about time ebayers/rainforesters learned that if they put 'as new condition' on an advert, then it ******* well should be.

Or this.

While I would be disappointed at the condition if it was advertised as "very good", I would contact them and see how they dealt with it. People have different opinions of what could be considered "very good", or sometimes these things just get missed. If they then fobbed me off they would get the bad review.

Indeed.

I'd also tell them not to contact me again. I've given an honest review of your service. If you don't like it then you need to look at the way you're running your business and make some changes to it. Don't harass me.

If they contacted me again I'd expect it to be an apology for their behaviour. Anything less and I'd report them to the rainforest people.

I don't understand people who leave negative feedback on the bay or the rainforest without contacting the seller first. They'll either say sorry and offer you a refund or a replacement or be a **** about it. If it's the latter then leave negative feedback.

I'd remove the review first, once the money had cleared I'd then post another view saying that the product received wasn't as described but the seller was polite and offered a full refund as it didn't meet my expectations.

This +1

Although I might be tempted to remove comment get money and then put up a new comment saying it was not as new but had a refund. That way every one knows he might bend the truth with regards to the condition but if it is miss leading they might also get a refund.
