***** UFC 134: Rio - Anderson Silva vs Yushin Okami Official Thread *****

Did you see fat Ronaldo in the crowd?

I thought I saw him too...

My bet was out the window after the first fight..

Got beaten 2 wins to 4 losses I think.

UFC is so hard to predict!

I can see a Silva vs GSP/John Jones sort of fight in the future..
But other than that there seems no one out there... just superfights really.
Wonder how he would do at boxing?

Best fight night of my life, seriously, that was epic, totally amazing, and so many knockouts and andy won! woohoo! cant ask for more then that.

I'm a big anderson silver fan, I dont know why so many people say bad things about him over years, hes a legend in my eyes and he proves everytime he is the best.

I watched the countdown, the weigh ins, the prelimis and the main card, was probably over 4 hours the whole event, that chael sonnen proper slates anderson silver and talks trash about him but at the end of the day he got beat, silver is the best, nobody can beat him.

So I just think people like chael sonnen should shut up and face the fact that they lost to anderson the spider. haha

:D

To be fair, Chael beat him for 4 and a half rounds.

I used to love Silva but his cockiness and deliberate lackluster performances have changed my opinion of him. I want him to lose every fight now. He's just a bit too good. :(

Yeah I thought that fight was amazing, he got beat up for best part of 25 mins and came back to win with a triangle choke, that was so amazing, one of best comebacks I've ever seen. Proper rocky style.

I feel like other people don't appreciate his talent, they call him a real life Bruce Lee and now they're even comparing him to Muhammad Ali. Other fights don't even come close to his skill apart from that one time.

Also after that chael sonnen fight, they said chael was on steroids and got banned for 12 months which was later reduced to 6 months ban, and they said silver had broken ribs so that makes that fight even more amazing and the win even more impressive!!

He's never lost a fight, the one fight on his record that says loss was due to disqualification when he knocked out okami so in reality he's never been beaten! What a legend! :D

He has never lost a fight apart from a disqualification?

Must be news to his record.

He is great, but he did also get finished in one of the most awesome ways ever:

Also I think Henderson may beat him in a rematch, and Jake Shields has a great style to beat him, wouldn't finish him but could control him for 5 rounds I imagine. No chance he gets triangled like Chael did.

Am sure thats what it said all over the countdown video, you know those guys that present UFC, is it joe rogan and the other guy? and also dana white, all of those guys many times said he only ever had one loss on his record? maybe they mean since he turned pro, or just his ufc record? because he was origonally in pride wasnt he? It was defo said in those videos anyway.

That lost must have been early days though, in pride or before he turned pro?

I believe the information I'm going on is UFC information and probably what the commentators were saying is what the usually say because white often in UFC they only talk about UFC records and other times they talk about previous records like pride etc.

It's just I've heard the sentence so many times "anderson silver has only one loss on his record in the UFC when he lost to okami via disqualification".

Anyways despite all this I believe all the best fighters, probably GSP as well had some losses in his early days but both GSP and silver havent lost in many years so I still think they're great and proper legends.

I don't want them to fight one another either, because then one has to lose and tarnish their reputation and their legacy, I dont want to see that happen.

@ SkScotchegg

Dana White and the UFC have never said he only has one loss on his record, they said his 'last' loss, they made a point that this was Anderson Silva avenging the last loss on his record. He's also unbeaten in the UFC with a record 14 wins in a row. How about a little research first next time? Spell his name right too, just makes you sound like a child.

I'm not his greatest fan I must admit, but it's bloody impressive how he takes world class fighters and makes them look like rookies. He must hit like a freight train too as he's knocking people down with jabs.

He has power no doubt, but I think it is more to do with the timing and accuracy of his strikes. He hits people on the button whilst they are coming forward swinging at him. It is truly awesome.

Silva really has nothing to gain from fighting GSP if he loses he lost to a WW if he wins he beat a WW. He really needs to step up and take more fights at 205, he has shown he can hang at 205. I'd prefer him to face Bones or whoever the 205 champ may be at the time.

A decent event which was nice. Surely, whoever fights Silva next has got to look at what Sonnen did to him! Push the pace, attack Anderson and take him to the ground. I know it's easy to say, but every fighter that stands in from of him and lets him control the pace of the fight, ends up getting countered and put onto the mat (usually after some faints and a few jabs thrown from the waist). Silva is a great fighter but I would like to see him beaten.

bit harsh

This isn't Gd, you can be nice here, we are all ufc fans.

I know we're all UFC fans but for someone to get something wrong and not spend minutes looking at his wiki page is just daft. Hell even Bruce Buffer announced his fighting record seconds before the fight '4 losses'.
