Been off work for a few weeks and slowly my nights have turned to days. What with watching movies and gaming and the like.

Knowing I have no work the next day and I can get up when I want.

Whats the best method to get back into routine?

I'm awake now and contemplating staying up all night and tomorrow so I'm shattered at about 9pm tomo night making me want to go to bed and get up fresh for work on thursday,

Reckon this is the best way?

Yep thats what I always do, just do an all nighter and by 9pm you'll be asleep like a baby.

We warned though, from 5-8am is a real killer not to shut your eyes, you got to fight it, FIGHT IT.

That or only have a few hours sleep tonight. I normally allow this situation to correct itself over the period of a couple of days, by waking progressively later in the day/morning, for some reason I often don't feel tired after 16 hours awake.

Same here. I probably won't get to bed before 8am, and then I'll have to get up at 10am. After I've finished my day I'll most likely waste the rest sleeping and then repeat. :(

Too used to US time.

Since being made redundant my days have reversed, I have this habit anyways, usually the day before just go to sleep when ya usually do, then get up early as tho for work, last the day and you should be ready for bed at a more normal time.

I don't have a sleeping pattern I sleep when my body is so tired I can no longer go on. I've often made myself ill. I wish I could switch off but my brain is always active.

i usually go to bed at around 4-5 in the morning. then wake up at 2 in the afternoon get to work from 4-12 and the cycle continues.

You could try fasting - that's what I do to get rid of jetlag. Supposedly if you don't eat for 8hrs your body clock resets, then eat the next meal that comes up at a regular time. I never eat on planes and my jetlag definitely isn't as bad as other people i know...

I no longer eat in planes but that was after a very unpleasent reaction to the food on a Virgin flight! My best tip for avoiding jet lag is to plan the day or two before you fly correctly to out your body clock as close to possible to the right time on arrival. For xample if I know I'm getting on a plane at 10pm and it will be 6am when I arrive at my destination after a 13 hour flight I'll try and be tired but not shattered when I get on the plane, spend an hour or two watching films so I'm really tired and then sleep the rest of the flight waking up just in time to start the next day.

if getting to sleep at a sensible time is the problem, try using this:
http://stereopsis.com/flux/

makes the screen's colours cooler at night and warmer (normal) in the day, much like it is outside. really helped me during my exams at uni.

then i'll recommend the usual reading a book, no sugary food/drinks near bedtime, etc

It's the opposite actually, it gives the screen a yellow tint as the evening draws in and it really does help! Much less eye strain although it's sometimes weird if you use it for ages then look at someone else's screen, retina burn ahoy :D
