Hi all, just looking for a little advice.

Someone is offering a 50mm 1.2L - UW date code. Good condition (optically perfect)

What is the good rate on these now? I've looked on-line with no real answer.

Thanks.

The cheapest I've ever seen one for sale second hand was in the mid £900 bracket. I've not seen many people talking about them for a while, mainly due to how good the Sigma 50mm 1.4 is for a fraction of the cost. I've even seen a lot of people say they prefer the 1.4 over the 1.2, but that's personal taste.

Money no option, then maybe get the 1.2 but personally I'd highly recommend the 1.4. I even dropped mine, attached to the camera the other day and it survived!

£800 is a reasonable price for that (it's £920 on B&H at the moment) assuming it's in perfect condition. But it really isn't a great lens for the money - soft at 1.2 and slow AF.

This, basically.

I was disappointed with it when I used one, my money would go elsewhere! :)

Make sure its the mkII!

The mkI isn't very sharp at 2.8 below 24mm - If you are looking at the mkI buy the 17-40L instead.

Cheaper and sharper :)
