IP35 Pro will not post

I have an Abit IP35 Pro (has run fine for over 2 years) which is now not posting. I put the machine to sleep as usual and seemingly randomly it did not turn back on. It is powered and the motherboard codes cycle from 8.0 through to 9.9 each time I press the power button. The fans start for a fraction of a second and then stop.

I noticed that the CPU fan was not spinning and felt very stiff when I tried to push it, so I replaced the heatsink and fan and it does now spin (for a fraction of a second) but the machine will not start. I'm wondering if I have toasted the motherboard or the cpu maybe!?!?

I'd love to think the machine is recoverable but my main concern is a raid 0 array containing some data that is not backed up. I did have a decent backup solution but moved the PC and didn't get around to moving the backup drives for over 3 months.

So my questions are, aside from the usual things which I have already done (pulled ram, disks, drives, gfx, peripherals etc)
1. Is there anything I can do to check whether the CPU or motherboard are borked?
2. If I wanted to mount the raid 0 drives in another machine how would I go about that? Do I need to buy another IP35 pro or can I do something more generic?

I have tried to contact Abit support but contrary to the gibberish on their website where the customer services department "prides itself on having the most comprehensive customer service system in the business", their support desk have failed to respond to my email and I have failed to reach anyone in the UK or US by phone, I reach terribly unprofessional voicemail boxes

Any help or pointers appreciated!

Cheers

Stuart

FYI Abit closed for business on 31 December 2008.

Damn... that explains the lack of response!

Any tips on how to get the data off the RAID array? I've found a new IP35 Pro on eBay for £90 delivered, but it is a lot of money to be thrown away when I am planning to downsize the PC in a couple of months anyway!

Yup, as above, remove the battery for 15 minutes then put it back in and try again.

If it still doesn't boot, have you got a spare PSU to try? Could be a sign the PSU is on it's way out.

IIRC 9.9 is the system almost booted, so very unlikely the board is toast, or the CPU for that matter

EDIT - just checked the manual and 9.9 is 'Complete Power Off Sequence', so clearly it is power cycling and shutting down. Given that I would be suspicious of the PSU.

Thanks for the advice, I am borrowing a PSU from a server at work next week to see if that helps.

I removed the power and battery and reset the cmos leaving it for 24hrs + and I still see the same errors.

Powering the board on without the CPU gives me an 8.7 error "Check CPU core voltage" so I think the CPU is OK. I have systematically removed all other peripherals including the ram and graphics card etc and I still see the power cycle 9.9 message. Fingers crossed it is the PSU otherwise I'm going to have to waste £90 on a replacement motherboard just to recover the data from my raid array

I think the PSU will turn out to be the problem, but if you can't get it running stick a wanted post up in the MM, you will probably get an IP35Pro in there for about £30-35 :)

Just out of interest, what is the full spec? Include makes and models if possible. Will help with diagnosing the problem.
