Car hire places in the US

Screw driving for so many hours a day. I'd rather see some sights and enjoy them. The roads are straight for literally hundreds of miles if I'm right. Driving 600 miles on a weekend to and from Scotland is bad enough and thats with twisties!

Have you actually ever looked at the pacific coast highway? I may look at doing the flight from seatle - new york instead of driving but I still fancy the trip up that way.

Yes, I've driven the Pacific Coast Highway and it's absolutely fantastic.

This is my point - spend more time in places like the Pacific Coast Highway and less time sitting on soul-less interstates for 12 hours a day and...

......fly to New York :p

Driving all the way up to Seattle and then flying to New York sounds like a much better idea.

I assume pacific coast is the coastal road due to its name.. the coastal road isn't taking up the greatest brunt of the journey is it . So I'm wading in with perfect sense :p

It's a decent assumption and as you might expect with it following the coast has a lot of twists and turns even if sections of it aren't in great condition from what I saw. It's probably not something that you'd want to just blast through but if you've got enough time then it's great and the scenery is often stunning.
