GPU for BF3, Witcher 2, metro

The latest news suggests that the BF3 may already have been polluted by nvidia's abuse of tessellation (just like Crysis 2), therefore in such case I bet a single GTX570 is better than a single 6950.

The Witcher 2 is an nvidia's game, but a single GPU made with the 40nm process cannot afford Ubersampling anyway, so you could pick either side.

Metro is also an nvidia's title, but since a single GPU of 40nm cannot max out the game anyway, you don't have to worry about vram issue and you could pick either side.

not even run the xfire yet, or played any games on the single one I've installed :)

I've had msi and sapphire cards over the years:

sapphire radeon 2900pro 1gb
now the sapphire radeon 6950 2gb toxic

msi gf 3 ti500
msi 5850 twin frozr ii(for past several months.

had a gf 7900 gto tho can't remeber the brand(it may have been msi and not the gf3).

1 his the his excalibur 9800pro.

more ati cards but not exclucivly one or the other :)

A 5870 (2Gb variety) plays the witcher 2 just fine on the default ultra spec at 1920x1200.

If it was me Id wait for next gen cards.

If you cant wait, get a 6950 or a GTX 570.

And? Your definition of fine is different from theirs. Given that Metro is a good looking game anyway, and DOF and tessellation adds nothing to the experience, I don't see a problem with leaving those out.

Can you please leave the endless spewing? No-one cares.

You've made your point. Some games require plenty of VRAM, or are difficult to play with single card set-ups. Big woop.

Can we please move onto something else now?

All this does is make us look even more elitist, petty and ridiculous - "You must spend an inordinate amount of money to play at full settings with silly, unnoticeable levels of AA, otherwise you're not experiencing the game properly, you unclean noob"

It's like this in every single performance related GPU thread that you dip your toe into.

Whatever, I'm out of here.

The definition of "fine" is too vague. Am I wrong to make it clear? I've seen too many threads such like "omg my GTX580 cannot run Crysis 2 well - disappointed".

I guess I'm doing a (good?) job for ocuk promoting the sales of high end cards, that's why the mods haven't banned me, right? Just add me to your ignore list and be done with me.

i have a single 6950 2gb and cant be happier with it for what it costs, great value for money and matched wioth an i5 2500k i hope bf3 will run well! if not i may try this whole crossfire thing!

from my gaming so far its running bfbc2 on full at 1920x1080 at really good fps not checked the actual. witcher 2 is extremely playable on high, switching to ultra may be pushing it, and playing metro on full aswell!

bull.

amd cards run bf3 better than Nvidias.

All you have to do is turn Object detail down a notch and Crysis 2 plays fine on my ATi card, also BF:3 played fine as well when i was in the Alpha.

Let me guess. You own an amd card? Also BF3 isn't even out yet...

I currently own a 570 and have tried a 6950 myself and I can safely say they are equally as good as each other, give or take a few fps maybe overall.

Above 1080p/1200p though a pair of 6950s in xfire is a no brainer.

What res will you be playing at? Might be worth going for something mid range in the short term (560 or refurbed 470) then upgrading when the new high end comes out. You should get a lot more mileage out of a HD7xxx/GTX 6xx than you will out of the current high end (assuming you can wait)
