Hi Chaps,
The missus wants to buy a pokey little Romahome(!) and having spotted one for sale locally we are a little concerned about the personal number plates it's sporting. The little I know about personal plates is the font needs to be a certain type, and this one ain't it.
Would someone mind having a quick look at the Ebay auction to see what they think? I know the pics aren't very big but hopefully enough to tell.
On a side note, if anyone has any tips about these micro campers (what to look out for etc) please feel free to advise. :)
Cheers.

oh, and the link..

Those plates aren't legal but they are unlikely to get you stopped as they are very legible.
Can't tell you much about the bambi except my wifes dad had one when she was 13 and it is the most excruciating ordeal you can inflict on a teenager! Lots of fond stories of having loads of friends in it for trips though, and also of getting stuck in car park entrances due to the height.

I'd imagine that you'll have more luck finding pointers on mechanical checks for the Bedford Rascal it was built from.

Thanks guys, confirmed what we thought.
That said, is it a straight forward case of getting <a number plate making service>(??) to make us a new, legal plate with the personal number?
Sorry for sounding such a pleb, but this is all new territory for us. :(

Actually isn't that an NI font?

Do explain?

Its a Belfast registration if thats what you mean.

As for the plate - illegal but doubt you'd get much bother with it

Northern Ireland - they appear to have different laws regarding the display of vehicle registration marks. There is no mention of a specific font being reqiured on the DVLNI website.

exactly the same requirements in Northern Ireland as they have in the rest of the UK I believe..

No, they don't.

You think every car over here has bold, italic registrations?

Having searched the DVLNI website and read the section on the display of numberplate, there appears to be no mention of font.

Could you point out where I said that? Of course every car doesn't. Just noticed a few non standard fonts on NI cars - more than you'd expect.

Having been brought up about the font on my plate at a roadside police checkpoint in NI I can tell you they have the same rules as in the rest of the UK.

I can't explain why there are more random fonts on plates over there (I agree there are more), possibly something to do with the car scene in general being bigger there? I don't know..

This is a common font over here and won't be mentioned during the MOT.
