Hi All,

I have an old school gamepad that is no longer any good for games such as dirt2 as the buttons are not pressure sensitive. I can either travel at maximum warp or not at all!

I dont like triggers.

Any reccomendations on a gamepad that has pressure sensitive buttons?

Cheers,
Achilles

I know you said you don't like triggers...

But the xbox360 gamepad is by far the very best gamepad you can get for the PC
Most games are setup for it as default..

Thing is im not a console gamer, never had an xbox or PS so just want to get as close as possible to this noob pad as i had before. 4 buttons, arrow pad and some buttons on the top!

Tired to use somones pad with sensitive triggers hated it. Made game unplayable for me.

Do ps3 pads work with PCs via the USB cable or do they need a special adapter too?

Any pad with just 4 buttons and a d pad are going to be way too basic to think about analogue buttons. I'd suggest xbox pads, I have a ps3, xbox 360 and of course PC and xbox has always been my preferred console for racing with a pad. If ps3 pads do work simply with pcs, their buttons are, as barmy said, pressure sensitive so they could be configured to work with x as a pressure sensitive accelerator etc.

Edit: xbox controllers aren't analogue apart from the triggers (not bumpers) and analogue sticks.

To do well in most modern racer sims, especially rally games, it depends on being able to input the throttle with an analogue signal. Unless you've a disability which is keeping you from using triggers, then you might be out of luck trying to find something; nothing I know has pressure-sensitive buttons. The market just isn't there.

2) PS3 DualShock 3
Using the Motioninjoy driver and the USB connector, you can actually hook up your PS3 controller to your PC! Great. However, unfortunately, the pressure sensitivity does not seem to translate over. I find this odd.

The explanations I've heard have been rather bizarre. Some people say the plugin itself is the culprit. However, the plugin author claims otherwise -- and as the analogue sticks do work properly it seems reasonable that the plugin should also detect pressure sensitive buttons.

You would think there is a market for it!

Get a 360 pad and get used to using the triggers.

It's natively supported for the dirt games and there's no better method of having analogue brake/accelerator without using a wheel (the lack of throw on the PS3 pad makes it rubbish for this). Hell give it an hour using the triggers and you'll completely change your stance.

I don't know why you'd gimp yourself using a digital input, when a bit of practice with an Xbox pad would see your times improve hugely.

You really don't need pressure sensitive buttons to be good at Dirt 2/3. I use a 360 pad (and don't use triggers, just use what would be traditional buttons) and I consider myself pretty decent at the game. Don't think you will find a better controller for PC than the 360 pad.
