Crossfire 6950

did you need to create a new thread to ask this? think you've already mentioned this in one of the other 3 threads you have going on the same subject.

you shouldn't need to buy the molex to pci-e connector as it should come with the graphics card(so 1 in the old one you have plus 1 in the new). as for is it safe to do I'll leave that to someone else to answer.

Yes and yes.

As fowler002 said, check your original box as you will already have 1 molex to pcie adapter somewhere that came with the 6950, and you will get another 1 supplied with the new card.

Really no need to go to more expense if you already have them.

You will get more help if you keep all your questions in the 1 thread, I imagine folks will lose interest as they will have to jump from thread to thread.

I have just installed 2 6950 in cross fire and I have the same PSU. I did not need to order any more cables as the cards come with all the adapters you will need to supply power to your cards. You don't need to order any more cables.

Good luck.

Did you use the Molex to 6 pin connectors? So you used two 6 pins already from the power supply then used the 4 molex to convert them to 2 6 pin connectors?

Just seen another 1 of your threads:
1680 X 1050

Imo, you would be better off buying a new 1920x1080 monitor than xfire at 1680x1050. Doubt there's much use for xfire at your resolution.

There is only a few of games really: crysis, metro and possibly BF3 that you will notice a difference at 1680.

Fair enough the big numbers in the reviews look cool, but are you going to notice the difference?

Not right now probably not but I play Wow which is a hard game to run with 16AA etc but I always like to above 60FPS sounds pathetic but I hate seeing a game under 60 fps. There's definetly something wrong with me XD but I think i'm going to get a bigger monitor for christmas aswell :D

I'm going with a XFX 2GB and HIS 1GB ;D Will I connect both cards to my monitor or just one and I'm going to reformat my computer when Installing both 6950's will I have to run both driver discs through?

Just the top card needs connected in xfire, get the latest Amd driver instead of the one on the disc as it will be an old one and you will need the CAP profiles too:

I would just plug in the new gpu then let the legacy driver install, reboot, install the new driver reboot again, install caps, reboot then you should be good to go.

Personally I wouldn't be doing a new OS install unless I really had to.

By all means you can have it, the game doesn't interest me but I would like your steam or something so when I'm putting the cards in etc I can ask for some advise :D

Cool, one piece of advice would be to put the new card in the top slot as it's 2 GB. If you get a game that doesn't like xfire/sli then the extra vram may help with the extra eyecandy if you switch off xfire.
