Crossfire 6950

Gpu-Z:

~35c idle(top card will be warmer ~10c) anything more than 85c while gaming then you will need to sort out your case cooling.

You should try gpu-z just now to see what your current temps are. You can log your results to file while gaming.

Coretemp for the cpu, as above try it just now and compare before and after xfire results:

You can get a handy gadget for this one.

I like using MSI Afterburner to monitor crossfire. UI is slightly easier to navigate. You don't have to click card 1, 2 to change as everything is on one page.

Im not overclocking I just want to get both of these 6950's running now and want to see if they're too hot or not, I hope not, I might just put them in and just play regardless about the temps :D

Your mobo has the right slot spacing for CF so should be fine. I'd still suggest you monitor it in the beginning though. Remember you are adding another 80c to your case and this can make everything else (CPU, n/s bridge) run hotter as well if the ventilation is bad.

I see it's not been mentioned also I'm not an expert, but it maybe worth putting 1 pci-e connector from the psu into 1 card and the other into the other card. then put 1 molex-pci-e into 1 card and the other molex-pci-e into the other card, so you have a 'proper' pci-e connentor and a molex-pci-e adapter in each card.

Will have to leave it to some one with more knowledge on such matter to answer if it makes a difference.

Open 2 instances of gpu-z.
Afterburner while good, can cause issues with games, with the last 2 Stalker games, they won't even launch(radeon pro and fraps have the same issue) while monitoring fps/temps. BC2 can also have issues with AB.

As your other card is in rma, why don't you ask for an upgrade to a 2gb card and offer to pay the difference, they may say no but if you don't ask...

I wouldn't really bother with 2gb cards unless you're going to run infinity at really high resolutions. But you can research the performance benifits of 2gb over 1gb yourself.

I'll stick to my 1gb HIS 6950 and 2GB OcUk 6950 :D For Crossfire,

Fowler One problem i dont think the Molex to 6 pin connectors will reach to both cards I think i'll be stretching the adapter for it even to reach the first card.

^ Eyecandy, not just in the games options but you can go into CCC and overide game settings.

While not essential to have 2GB, there is no harm in having it considering BF3 is nearly upon us, new metro coming also. Skyrim will be moded to hell and back like FNV which has high res mods that will eat up ram.

A HIS 2GB 6950?
Yes, as I said you can only ask. They could possibly be waiting on getting stock of 1gb His 6950's to send you one back, if that's the case, then I imagine they would let you pay the difference. Happened to me once a few years back.

:D What should I say to overclockers then?

Should I mention the other 2gb and I don't know how much the 2GB HIS 6950 is it could be 250 and I'm not paying another 70 quid on top of another graphics card
