Good CPU cooler for 2500k and CM Elite 430 case.

Hi, I'm after a decent CPU cooler for my 2500k. I'm running a Elite 430 case too (unsure of dimensions), can anyone recommend me a good midrange cooler please?

I've looked at the Arctic Cooler Freezer 13, but apparently it's not very good? Budget is under £30.

My idle temps are at 39-46C at the moment across the cores, I want this down to 20-30C if possible by adding a decent cooler, arctic silver compound and an exhaust (or possibly a top fan if it's better), is this viable?

Funnily enough I just read that and was about to ask about it

Just read that the max height my case can take is 163mm, and this one is 153mm so there should be plenty of room, well 1 cm.

Any other recommendations off anyone?

the silver arrow is officially 162.7mm, with some people measuring their own one as anything up to 168mm. no idea why OcUK list it as 160mm. someone on these forums has an elite 430 and a silver arrow and the cooler touches the side of the case. some day i will remember his name.

however, since the OP's budget is £30, the gelid tranquillo would be my choice. if OcUK stocked the titan fenrir any more i'd suggest that, but it dissapeared from the shelves a few weeks ago

I reckon some people just can't measure properly, they're the ones who measure themselves and recon they're 8" when they're really only 6" lol.

Yeah I saw a post yesterday someone had a Silver Arrow in an Elite 430.

Do you happen to know if there is a significant increase in cooling performance from £30 to £50 coolers?

I know the price difference makes it seem obvious, but sometimes things just aren't worth the extra money.

£50 Gets you the Silver Arrow, regarded my most as THE best air cooler available. Far far better than the antec kuhler 620

I'm not saying its better, I would love the silver arrow but I wanted more space and airflow. I got an alc Eco about 10 months ago for 30 quid and love it.

The difference is 10.25C you posted the wrong link.
If you want to compare the out of the box performance without having to buy extra fans for the antec kuhler 620 :-

I posted the 5-7c before I searched out the link for a comparison.

It is personal preference. I don't think my suggestion is final just offering an alternative. If u could pick it up for 38 and push pull with a 9 quid Apache fan or 4 quid yateloon it would still perform similar.
