Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Maccy, I see you're selling a sub and amp on CS.net. I'd quite like to get something to give me a bit better sound in my car, I assume the stuff you're selling is alright, I'm not after high end, just something to get the best out of my Alpine HU, and give a bit better bass.

Trouble is, I have no idea how I'd fit the stuff. Do you know how to fit this kind of thing?

Maccy's off out in to the big bad world of work today so I wouldn't expect a reply from him until this afternoon/evening.

However his sub used to be mine ;) I traded it with him for a phone I think, lol if he's happy to give you a hand at his then I'll pop down and tell you you're both doing it wrong :p

I fitted some gear in to my 182 for a short while, was fairly straight forward.

Does it make that much difference having an Amp and Sub?

I've got an Alpine X305 HU and those direct replacement Pioneer front speakers.

I'd say so. It depends what sort of music you listen to and also how you like to listen to it.

If it's the Alpine R-type sub I swapped with him then it packs a hell of a punch however you don't have to have the gain up on maximum and you can just have it set to enhance the mid/bass tones & increase some SPL rather than shake the car to bits!

Fitting wires for it in to a Clio is very straight forward, took me about 30 minutes to feed them from the engine bay to the boot & HU.

Is it the HU & replacement speakers you need fitting?

Edit: I have an Aux cable (3.5mm jack) for the Ai-Net changer ports not that you'll probably ever need it but if you want it you can have it if we do end up helping you fit some gear.

I've got the HU fitted already, so it would be the sub and amp. Behind the HU is a MESS, it took me ages to fit it all in. I'm a bit worried about doing anything audio wise to the car because it was so hard to squeeze the HU in with the mass of cables behind it :p

I listen to a range of stuff really, currently listening to a lot of stuff like Nero, Skrillex, Feed Me, Deadmau5, Rusko, Netsky. But also listen to older stuff like The Stone Roses, Led Zep, Pink Flloyd, etc.

I'd say you'd benefit from having a sub, it's a little extra weight but you can always take the sub & box out if you ever went on track. Dubstep/D&B will sound much better as there's frequencies that you just won't get from door speakers.

There's only two RCA plugs and then one wire in addition to whats already behind the HU. Alpines tend to have the pre-outs on the end of 10cm of wire or so, so it's not in the back of the HU directly so can be put elsewhere down the side/below the HU.

You could always sample it, see if you liked it and then decide. As running cables about would only take 10/20 minutes. Just laying them & hiding them will take a little while longer.

I actually had my amp under my passenger seat as it was a small one MRD-M605 from memory.

One thing I hope to do to my car is actually wash it properly. I think after the novelty first year of owning it I just can't be bothered any more.

Need to pick up a DA polisher and have a proper detail, and sort my headlights out. One day, one day.

Ok reading through, Benny has pretty much nailed it. I need to shift it and it's good quality kit, you may want to purchase another RCA cable though because this one isn't in great nick, although perfectly usable. Let me know mate, I'm about on Saturday!

I've got my RCA cable you can pinch. No good to me. I've also got some 4 gauge earth wires & other cable I can dig out too. Has just been collecting dust out the back.

I'm not available until next Sunday ideally though I could be available Sunday morning if you don't mind me intruding.

Yeah I'm not around this weekend unfortunately. Can I check my finances over the weekend and let you know? Don't hold it for my sake though.

EDIT: I DEFINITELY cannot afford it. Balls. Sorry. Very bad month!

Really need to fit the brake lines I have! When are you fitting all that?

Guy on CS will make me a set of these for £40. What do you think?

I'm waiting on a cheque to come through the post (cheque?? i know!! :p) so will hopefully have them fitted soon at the same time as i get my master cylinder replaced. If i don't get the cheque within the next couple of weeks i will have to wait until next payday. :( Miss the car loads, want it back on the road!

Like the door cards, i want the carbon ones but they are silly expensive. I believe oreca do poly versions for £170ish, so £40 seems like a bargain. What are they made of? I would certainly be interested in a set too if you don't mind asking him :)

They're plastic and I think they're a bargain too. I was going to make some but paying £40 to get someone else to it was a much better idea.

Thinking about getting them flocked or something when I have mine, add a bit of colour.
