crossfire 6950 2gb power supply

for sure some games don't play as well as others in xfire but it's well worth it most of the time huge performance gain with the two 6950's once oc'd and everything.

I currently have a setup of 2x 6950's and another with a 6950 flashed to a 6970 which I will be adding another 6970 to soon.

Card ordered :) so is it a case now of just plugging it in? or do i need to wipe my current drivers and install special ones when both cards are in? never had dual cards

Just fit the card and the Crossfire bridge.

The drivers will be installed automatically then enable Crossfire in the CCC.

I think this PSU is rated at 52A on the 12V rail.

That should be more than enough with a comfortable headroom.

Don't run Furmark with prime95 simultaneously and you will be fine with a mild overclock.

brilliant thanks guys :) oh also i dont think i got the answer to this but will the R6950 be fine with the standard 6950 in crossfire? both will be msi!

and do u set 1 card as a main card and the other as secondary as i think the one ive just ordered is a bit better than my current one, cheers

I already answered that, as I said brands/speeds don't matter so you'll be fine.

think the one in the top pci-e is set as the primary and the lower pci-e as the secondary, it makes no difference in games that support xfire(as the faster card is slowed down to match the slower one) but in games that don't support xfire it'll be better to put the new one in the top slot and older one in the lower slot.

Im not sure im new to crossfire and in just having a read and ask around it seems certain games dont work too well with it! For example i think witcher 2 had issues but a crossfire patch has fixed that :) so im happy
