Star Wars Saga on Blu Ray - George Lucas fiddling with it again

Instead of tweaking old star wars he should get that star wars tv series going instead imo. Something of the quality of the recent BSG would be kinda cool for starwars.

I have bought the VHS and DVD versions but I don't think I will be buying these Blurays.

I hate to admit it, but I downloaded a version called StarWars Revisited. It's a fan edited version with none of the crap he added. Finally I have a version with great visuals where Greedo doesn't shoot first.

I hate Piracy, but it was the only way to get the correct version of the film.

George Lucas... no one takes him seriously anymore, do they?

I've shared this before and i'll share it again.

Search Youtube for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Review (Part 1 of 7)

Just want to say thanks for that link, sat and watched it tonight. Didn't realise it was over an hour long and it showed holes all over that I hadn't even considered.

A brilliant watch, stuff like Anamkin building a protocol driod that was already mass produced and countless other pap.

Part 7 was great for showing how Lucas became Monty Burns with loads of advisors that just nod in agreement. Some great behind the scenes stuff I hadn't seen :)

I'm a huge SW fan having read just about every novel ever written. I hate anything Lucas has graced in the SW universe except A new hope. :)

That youtube vid about ep1, says ewan somit or other is obi one, not ewan mcgregor lol. So kinda fails if he cant even get that right. :P

Your opinion for which you can exercise your ultimate right, not to buy the movie. I am sure you can buy some originals on Ebay so be happy :)

Thats why I said if the original cuts of the movies are not included in the Blu Ray I will not buy the trilogy... if they ain't I can't get the Blu Ray version.

Huh? Don't you get the point :D

I saw this from a link, kinda feel sorry for Anakin (Jake Lloyd) from Phantom :(
It's obviously caused him to be bullied from a young age.

No, you've got a fan edited version with all sorts of new crap added to it. ;) Still not the theatrical version.

Adywan did a fantastic job though. It's a amazing job. Plus the changes subtitles are pretty entertaining too. :D

I know it has parts from the new edits, but the main gripes I had with the film are gone.

I just couldn't understand why GL would destroy all the tension build up when Obi is describing Mos Eisley, by inserting a few comedy robot scenes. I really cannot get my head around why he would do such a thing.

Have to admit... This made me laugh. :D

As some people don't know of the Revisited versions... Here's a couple of comparison videos that are out there of the fanedit releases.

Star wars always had terrible dialogue and acting, a mediocre trilogy at best, so these vocal additions are really just more of the same.

I've never really figured out who's worse in these situations: Lucas for being unable to just say "it's done" to his trilogy, or the people who get ridiculously annoyed by the tiniest of changes.

Depends what you consider tiny tbh. If its a visual tweak then np as long as it looks like it should have been done. Altering voice work is possible if to clean something up but to change a whole scene by adding in voice work i.e the no then that isnt very small it is a large impaction of the scene which was fine the way it was.

A thought occured to me earlier that if I were George Lucas, and knowing that the fans hate me no matter what I do, I'd have done all of this as a hoax just to build up some press coverage before the final release.

So I'd sit down with some of the guys, and talk about what I could do to REALLY rile fans up and then deliberately leak out a few copies of the entre BluRay set with those changes on which would make the fans go wild and get a lot of attention. Then just before release I'd announce that those were a hoax and release the proper versions. Lots of fairly cheap advertising, lots of coverage, lots of buys.

Vader from original trilogy is epitome of supercool cold blooded villain. He's the villain of villains. There is nothing in the entire universe that could in any way affect his balance, throw him off target or make him nervous. He's Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson of the space age western multiplied by a hundred. If you stand in his way. You die. If you slow him down. You die. In the same stoic, cold manner. He doesn't rush through battlefields, he doesn't run through duels. He doesn't get hit by shots, he doesn't bleed from sabre wounds. No Jedi can kill him through the entire saga, it takes his master and dark force to finally finish him off in almost natural "imbalance of the force" kind of way. and snip

Well Luke does a good job of leaving him on the floor with a hand missing and spares his life and he's a noob then :D

And your welcome Danny.

Loved the stuff about the super speed they had at the start of PM and then when Obi wan has to get to Maul fast he doesn't use the same trick. :D

Also the bit where they ask the public to describe Qui Gon :D
