Game suggestions for a console gamer

Is bfbc2 a big step up from the console version? I loved it for xbox, if it's better on PC that will have to be got.

Mine craft looks horrible. :p it looks like it has the potential to be fun, but the master system-esq graphics would drive me nuts.

I'm not a fan of the total war games, I can see the appeal, but I like the building up aspect of rts more than the actual combat (ironically it's the building part I suck at).

What's anno? I had a look but it describes it as a sim the the screenshots look like rts?

What's the best (cheapest) way to buy games now by the way? Through Steam/other download services or on disc? Any other advantages to Steam?
 
Another Team Fortress 2 vote.

200+ free updates of patches and maps and content and whatnot, all free vs the console version.

In fact the game is even free to play now.

Get the awesome TF2 and you shall not regret it.

Also BF3 looks like fun with 64 players. Consoles get not nearly as much.

I think world of tanks is what fried my last computer. I installed it, it crashed on me 3 times (tried it twice then again with graphics on min) and the computer wouldn't boot up again consistently after, I managed to get it back to windows after a system restore but then it bricked on me after a reboot.

I had the orange box for xbox and tf2 never really interested me, it was ok with mates but it still didn't have the depth to keep me involved for very long.

Also as I've not gamed on PC in years, I'm basically playing solo for a while until I make some new friends. I'd be tempted to pick up games like borderlands otherwise, but I didn't find it as good solo.
 
I went out today and got the witcher 2 and Starcraft 2. Both brilliant, I'm really struggling with Starcraft though, sp is fun so far but out of about 20 games vs a hard bot, I've lost them all. I can't get my base built up quick enough! :(

The witcher 2 is what DA2 should have been. I've only played DA on PS3 but the combat was terrible. Loving this one!
 
I need to look into that one some more. I remember loving the first one, then getting bored quite quickly, it was a long time ago and I might be getting mixed up though.

I also finally managed to play Crysis on max graphics! Also fished out some other old games I had, I even found CoH that I'd forgotten I had (came with my trusty old nVidia 9600GT). :D
 
Give Minecraft a go.

I do recommend playing through Half Life, Half Life II and the episodes if you haven't done so already :)

StarCraft II is a top game too.
 
Don't buy any more games.

Instead, spend it on upgrading your PC for Battlefield 3!

Maybe get Bad Company 2 until then to tie you over ;) (if you haven't got it already)
