Hi peeps 2 questions here,
I was just thinking rather than spending "crazy" amount of money on a Desktop Speaker setup why not try hooking up the Hi-fi speakers when I know I can get better sound from them, so is there a way to connect my Hi-fi speakers to my PC?

Now the 2nd question,
If I'm totally wrong and you know that I will be able to get better sound from normal PC speakers, then I would like a decent recommendation upto the £200 range!

Thanks! ;)

1. Yes you can. If you're using onboard sound or a sound card, and get yourself a stereo amp, you'll connect from a standard 3.5mm jack to phono into the amp. Then some speaker cable from amp to speakers.
If you get a DAC/amp combo, av amp (which allows more than 2 speakers if you're looking to expand into 2.1/5.1, etc later on), or separate DAC and amp, then you're looking to go from the pc to DAC via optical, then phono to phono from DAC to amp (if you get them separately) then speaker cable from amp to speakers.

If you can go 2nd hand, you'll get more for your money.

I managed to get the Cambridge Audio A5 and Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s for £135.

Thanks for the replies!

What speakers have you got?

Just some really old ones, but they sound much better than the 2.1 PC speakers I got.

Nice price! Sounds good... I just wish there was a easier way as I need to save space in the process and all of that just seems way to cluttered around the PC, but at least i know what to do now, haha.

So for my 2nd question can anyone recommend me a 2.1/5.1 speaker setup for my PC? My eyes were set on the Aego's as I've been reading so much about them, and I want something that really kicks in bass.
As I have said I can spend up to £200, using onboard at the moment so if a sound card is needed, please advise! :D

i have my gaming computer set up in front room connected to my yamaha rx-v567 amp with a set of tsfx tannoy 5.1 speakers which is connected to my sharp 46 inch led tv and i dont think i could buy a set of speakers that are made for a computer better than that plus all is even easier if you gfx card has a hdmi port and carrys audio like the nvidia 4xx + series and all the ati hd series
