Counter Strike: Source night!

Right, done some more server tweaking.

Changes:

Server:
-Fixed Server Name to Describe the server better
-Updated Map List on MOTD

Mods:
-Roved sm_cash - Bit pointless anyway with the new betting system
-Added a Teambalancer, which will force players to join the smaller side when they join the server and balances according to skill
-Votemap option now lists in chat area instead of hint area
-Betting System Added. Place your bets!

meh played abit better tonight with a better ping :D. We should sort some mix's out some time :)

Yeh 5on5 mixes would be awe-some! I want to get into it but I know I'll be low---

PS as this is now the sort of official CSS thread, has anyone been playing the beta? I haven't, but my colleague has, and he is into CSS in a big way (goes to every i-series to compete and places well etc). Some of the changes that are going to roll out to CSS (from the beta) are going to change the game massively. Here are some of the key changes:

-All weapons now have a new accuracy model which fixes many bugs and provides more intuitive weapon behavior
-Weapons now have separate accuracy penalties for jumping, landing, and standing on ladders
-All weapons are now more accurate while crouching
-Accuracy penalties for movement no longer have a discrete threshold, but scale between crouch move and run speed
-All rifles are less accurate while running
-Dynamic crosshair now uses actual weapon accuracy, rather than a separate simulation
-Updated player max speed cap so that it no longer limits players to 240 movement speed (bunny hopping?)

In short I think the accuracy model is going to be more like 1.6. Shooting whilst running will be much more difficult, and accuracy whilst crouching is improved. Currently I think accuracy is either in one state for being static, or in another state for moving. Now spread will be reduced when walking etc.

Possibly yeh ^

Apparently you can headshot so easily when crouched with the deagle. I imagine there will be less peaking and firing, and more walking/crouching and firing. So slower, more tactical games maybe.

Never played 1.6 but by the sounds of it, it'll be more like that.

given everyone who i've spoken to who has ever tried the css beta thing has said it's ****, terrible and nothing like 1.6 or css but just terrible compared both.

I'm not confident.

why don't you try the beta?

^ Sorting out some mixes would be epic. Used to play mid and ESL years and years ago but now would probably rate a low- ;). Would be a bit of fun anyway, no sense in taking it too seriously. And we can always steal cplhardnut for a night.

EDIT: I'm [PIG] llama on the server btw.

Oh. Doesn't sound good then. I'll give it a go when I can. Although the latest changes were supposed to roll out to CSS last Tuesday, but were held back due to bug fixes I think. If I have time I'll check it out, but I'm pretty new to CSS anyway so I might not even notice the subtle differences.
