Sexual harrassment and intimidation in the workplace

Can't say i'm at all surprised by this sort of backwards behaviour.

Record what they're doing and take it to the police, hopefully they'll get locked up or better yet, deported.

What about an English man who is Muslim? Surly your familiar that you cant have sex before marriage. thats why I said bnp chav brigade will love that statement.

Dosen't stop a lot of men from still be extremely sexually harrassing. Try going to morocco etc and see how the men treat the women.

It's a backwards belief that promotes gender inequality. What do you expect?

of course not, but it will make them feel guilty and they may not be motivated to commit such sick acts.

Her attire is hardly provocative! Every time I have seen her in 'work clothes' (which granted is not very many times) it always appears sensible (no cleavage flashing around, legs not out on show etc) mainly because she knows what they are like at work.

In fact, her manager even suggested that tights were not professional enough in an effort to get her to show some leg =/



Anyway, the focus is most definately not on religion, race or culture here. They are an aside. Whilst we have already established that the above can contribute to a person's outlook on what is deemed acceptable or not in some cases, I think we have now established that it is all too easy to jump on the hate bandwagon and stereotype incorrectly through ignorance. Please leave it out.

Indeed. Financial difficulties. Can she not borrow or move in with family/friends for a while, considering the exception circumstances?

And she doesn't like being out of work. That's a poor reason to allow sexual harrassment really. It sounds like it's affecting her more emotionally than she might be letting on. No work > being sexually harassed. Anyone with a bit of logical thinking can tell that.
 
Also the company is relevant as you should investigate if things like this are known to happen there before, if not the company seems very good at pushing it under the carpet and it would then be a waste of time going to HR... From the sounds of this it these guys could have been getting away with this type of thing for a long time...
 
Honestly would it be worth the hassle to take this further? Obviously that's up to her. Definitely seek advice from an employment lawyer if she does wish to. Otherwise I would quit and find another job.

I reckon it's probably a call centre for a popular tech merchant, perhaps.

Even if non-consensual recordings can't be used as evidence in court, they can be used to sway people in a HR department. Record everything. Document everything that can't be recorded. Names, dates, times, details. It makes a difference if there's an investigation and she can give that sort of information about things such as having shift patterns changed, holiday permission withdrawn, etc. If she just says it happens, well, that's part of working nowadays. If she documents how often it happens, that adds more weight. If she can tie it in with a dated and timed recording showing that shortly earlier he'd propositioned her and she'd turned him down, that adds a lot more weight.

But seeking legal advice is a good idea. CAB, at least.
