Wonder how much truth there is behind it, Cevat Yerli complained about an AI bug hurting Crysis 2 (one of a few things) and one of the Fired was the lead AI Designer.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Somebody I know worked there for a bit (on Far Cry admittedly so this is going back about 8 years).

They also got busted for using loads of unlicensed software.

Crysis took the graphics that the computer was capable of and showed it to the world, and if it wasn't for that then I'll probably will still be playing the Xbox360. Seriously now.

Crysis 2 had too many issues after release so that was a bit of a bad patch for them.

Another Great British Games Designer goes down the drain.

They did purchase Free Radical Design in Nottingham and rename them Crytek UK.

Free Radical Design / Crytek UK have not done anything great in my opinion, recently they did the multiplayer component for Crysis 2 which from what I have read, is mediocre.

Free Radical were making Star Wars: Battlefront III but the contract was taken off of them.

A notable British developer who we should be celebrating in recent years is Rocksteady Studios.

I actually enjoyed Crysis 2, felt far more fluid than the first.

GFX weren't a major player to me as I've not got the latest gear to play them on.

From what i read it was more a matter of incorrect number of licenses bought, and they were cleared of it supposodly.

Ubisoft, hopefully it takes a lot more of the first but retains some elements from the second, it looks good nevertheless.

Doubt it, Crysis 2 didn't look as promising as BF:3 does before it was released, there were a lot of doubts for Crysis 2 compared to BF:3. DICE have lived up to what they've said so far, BF:3 is looking to be an amazing game since the Caspian Border multiplayer gameplay video was released.

A lot of creative types (especially musicians) are capable of one piece of really inspired work, and then spend the rest of their limited career living off that early reputation. Crytek are competent, but if they vanished I probably wouldn't notice they'd gone.
