Red or Black (tv series)

Dont get the hate for this really - its just another game show although maybe a little too high concept.

What? High concept? It's about as high concept as Deal or no Deal, and equally bad at the same time.

Haven't watched it but it sounds like a "Who wants to be a millionaire" programme for people too thick to get any of the questions right. Fair description?

Pretty much. But not only is it a game of 'luck', but the format also ensures that everyone can't be wrong!! Say you're down to the final 8 players, then the first 4 people all choose 'Red', then the next 4 players are forced to pick 'Black', so as to ensure 4 players will be right and 4 wrong. So in some cases, you can end up being right, not because you chose correctly, but because you were left with no alternative.

In typical Cowell fashion, it's a 20 minute program dragged out for hours, with a break in the middle to keep up the 'suspense'.

It's also edited in the same machine-gun way with in-your-face flash graphics, swooping camera pans and piercing music, it gave me a migraine after 10 minutes.

This programme is basically X FACTOR/BGT minus the judging format, and replaced with a series of silly events.

It's also got the Deal or No Deal syndrome where it's just padded out to fit a timeslot.

Rubbish.

Beating up women is what I read. They certainly did find a bunch of low lives for the show. Was expecting to have contestants to "root" for, but not a chance with this bunch.

Actually the reason they want to strip him of the prize is not because of his criminal past it's because he gave false information about what happened.

He said he'd gotten into a fight with another guy where the truth was he'd beaten up his partner at the time.

Is this the worst program ever in existence?

I still don't see how this is broadcastable, as all games are meant to have some element of skill, rather than purely lottery, its why deal or no deal has you chosing to deal or not, rather than just picking a box.
This is a simple red or black, and thus equates to a lottery, I can't see how that doesn't breach competition rules.

hopefully this cowell production, presented by those talentless fools will be soon stopped.

Bring back the proper days of gameshows, Generation Game, Bullseye, Family Fortunes (with real people, NOT celebs) and why not Telly Addicts! - Used to love Saturday nights round the grandparents for a proper gameshow.

Girlfriend has gotten into this - I tried but I just can't get along with programmes like this.

It's like Deal or No Deal in that there's no skill involved. It's just a load of people randomly choosing a colour, dragged out over an hour with some stupid sob stories thrown in to get the lefties to tune in and root for them.

Typical Cowell programming.

Don't know why they don't just hand out 1,000 boxes at the start and 1 box have a cheque for a million pounds in it, job jobbed after 2 minutes. Would mean all the crap was cut and we wouldn't have to endure a programme that was obviously designed solely as a platform to get one of Simon Cowells music acts performing their latest single on prime time TV each day.

No idea why they started the whole celeb thing on game shows, the whole point was watching some random Joe lose it at the end or cheer him on if he was likeable.

Watching another Z list celeb compete for charity puts me to sleep. The new game shows are also awful!

As much as I disliked this program, surely it's obvious as to why it's not a lottery?

You're not just picking red, or black, where the result is determined on pure luck (except for the final round).

For most of the show, you're picking a person/object that you think will win in a given event. They just happen to represent a team, whether that be red, or black. The winner of each event is determined by their skill, so you're trying to pick the person who you think has the most skill for each event. This isn't a lottery.
