Best sub £150 graphics card?

Ive just ordered an ATI 6870 today from here, seems to be the best looking card around for that price and I imagine it will have good overclocking potential :)

Good thread, its not worth spending much on gfx card at moment as the next generation are out soon. 560ti would be my choice if i had to buy right now as I think they overclock better going by some of the reviews i've seen recently. However wait until end of month and see what the HD7000 bring.

If your PSU can handle it I would suggest a used GTX480. Many go for under £150 and most have some warranty remaining. Currently, the only faster card is the GTX580 but that costs more than twice as much.

A 6870 will play most games happily if you want new, but a 480 will be much faster. The new price of 6870's makes them bargains at the moment. It seems AMD have cut prices in readiness for 7 series card rumored for late September.

Got my new HD 6870 today and it is powerful, infact it beats my last GTX 460 Hawk Twin Frozr II easily, good card to get for the price :)

Be wary of the 6870.

I bought one a few days ago and returned it today. My display drivers kept crashing and recovering all the time, and a quick search online will tell you that it happens to a lot of them. Underclocking it from 900mhz to 775mhz brought stability but obviously lowered performance.

I called up Overclockers and they said they'd had a lot of 6870's sent back for numerous reasons, the main one being that many of them can't even get to the post screen.

So far mine has been running smoothly, no crashes or anything. I didnt bother with CD drivers I never do, just went straight to AMD site to download latest. Played NFS Hot Pursuit, Fifa 11 and Just Cause 2 - no issue at all.
