I have just received my 2 asus monitors now but cant hook up the 3rd for obvious reason :). I was originally going out buy 2x evga 570gtx 2560mb. But iv waited a while and there still not out. Would the extra vram actually help or will there be no difference from the standard 570gtxs? some competitors say the card will come out on 5th september...i can wait then if it will be worth it.
Thanks
Marc

more vram helps with multiple screen set ups, tell us the screen resolution then people can help with choosing cards

the monitors are 1920x1080.i want to run 5760x1080. not really fussed about aa. my games dont really look that different. mostly racing games like rfactor, live for speed, race on etc. the other games i enjoy playing are bc2, moh2010, css, tf2, gta iv (i know that doesn't support sli and i doubt id max that in 3d) warcraft 3, starcraft 2 (need more vram for that, kills my 460gtx) eldar scrolls oblivion and the fallout games. As you can see only 2 games are fairly demanding. I have pre ordered skyrim and bf3 and hope to play them all the time.

Triple-screen gaming is intensive enough, and you will need at least twice the horsepower for 3D. I'd say that a pair of 3Gb GTX580s would be the logical answer.

Actually, I would perhaps consider getting a single GPU for now and waiting for the next gen. I'd hate to spend £800 on a pair of GPUs only to find that they still can't provide the kind of framerate you want...

i could get a 2nd 460gtx and give 3d vision surround a go to get a feel about how much power i need. Problem with that i only have the 768mb verson so ill end up having a headache after a while with the single number fps :D but games like live for speed im constantly running at 120fps, in 3d 75 fps.. Maybe 3d will work well with 2 of my 460s.

Yeah but what gpu though :) 570gtx 2.5gb is in my price range for SLI but i want to know if 2.5gb would be any different from a lower vram card :)

Took the plunge and bought a 2.5gb 570gtx. There was 3 in stock so i clicked buy and i dont know if iv pre ordered or im actually getting the card. If they come in stock again in getting a 2nd. Ill try and post benchmarks :)

you made the right choice, got a pair of 560ti 2gb's myself and triple screen eats vram for fun. lowest in any game i think is 1.2gb and max i've seen was i think 2025mb most take 1.5-1.7gb

people seem to overestimate how much power you need though, with the games you mention you will be fine. for instance i can run iracing 11520x1080(3D), maxed (no 2 pass shadows) 4xaa, 16xaf and still get 45-60fps on all tracks and its honestly the best looking game i've ever played, the effect in the tin tops is nothing short of amazing

Its good to have a lot of power though, triple monitor does take quite a hit, lets say 30% and 3d defiantly drinks half of your fps so thats 80% decrease in fps using both. Im just guessing the figures here. But in real terms, people said i couldn't run games in 3d on my 460 768mb at full settings. I ran bfbc2 quite happly maxed with no aa at 1920x1080 in 3d. Theres no proper benchmark out there that shows what you need for 3d vision surround.

seems i didnt get the 1 of 3 that where in stock :( i was to slow...argh.

ye but if you think you're gonna be playin all games in 3D surround i'd think again, a lot games that have full support for 3D don't support 3D surround. 2D surround you'll be fine for almost everything important but i can say that a pair of 560ti's is absolutely fine with 2D surround even with 4xaa, 16xaf in most cases
