*** Official Dead Island Thread ***

Isn't that problem pretty much only limited to the Frostbite 2 engine? Maybe it's more widespread than I thought though.

I've seen quite a few games that do it unfortunately, not just BC2. :(

It's just bad planning due to the way that some developers package their games that require nearly the whole title to be re-downloaded for a patch. No idea if Dead Island would be this way though.

I'm hoping that file diffing for patching in Steam hasn't been delayed along with Dota 2 thinking about it.

After reading some reviews ranging from 6/10 to 8/10 and watching the 45mins gameplay I bought it on Steam. This is gonna be a well good laugh playing with mates online!

My preloaded game downloaded a 76.6 meg update, surely an update that small can't fix releasing the wrong version?

It has removed a lot of the obvious console items.

I now get up to 200fps inside at the start which slowly creeps down to around 60fps but with really bad stuttering that makes it look sub 20fps.

This release is just a car wreck.

Also it crashes if you try to start it with steam in offline mode - didnt before.

Oh no! Its not another Brink is it?

I too thought it looked good, but after watching some game play trailers it looks very repetitive... if there were a demo I'd most likely try it out first before passing final judgement.

Didn't SupCom 2 do this? A tiny patch meant a full re-download?

You watched a 45 minute gameplay video and didn't fall asleep? Honestly I really don't get how anyone can be excited about this game now, it looks so slow and clunky and will get repetitive very quickly. I'd rather just play Left 4 Dead.

Use a VPN to the US.

In this instance, why would you want to risk your Steam account for activating a potential lame duck of a game 3 days early? Seems pointless to me.
