How much do people pay for house insurance?

Looking at all your prices I think i need to do some more searching, as I have a 3 bed place, and my renewal just came through for £650 from direct line. That's for a regular building and contents policy, with high value item.

What is actually covered when I have a contents insurance?
Say I paid ₤2000 for a TV. If it breaks and if it's unrepairable, will they give me ₤2000 vouchers or will they give enough vouchers to buy a similar TV which could be like ₤500?
What's the reality?

They'll offer a replacement of similar spec, or you can refuse and ask for cash.

We paid £108 through RBS on a 2 bedroom new build. Swiftcover quoted £143 and RBS had a guaranteed to beat by £35 offer on.

£240 for 14 rooms and built in garage. New build.
Was £180 at last 1950's house 9 rooms no garage.
£100 in our terraced before that. :)

£13 a month or something like that, cover is for £25000 worth of contents and the building so I thought that was quite a good deal.
