Saying No to people.

Not necessarily a bad attribute, doesn't mean your weak, but people are potentially greedy and you give them an inch and they will take a mile. But you can't let people walk all over you, just remeber that we live in a so called democracy and the police and justice system are "apparantly" there to protect you so don't let your guard down. It can be a nasty world.

My parents sometimes emphasise on the last bit, nasty world out there. :(

Homeless people pray on me, I once gave one 50p or whatever, he saw I had more in my purse, asked for more and me being the idiot I am gave it to him.

I'm a sucker for a sob story too.

How insulting i wouldn't of, and how do you know he is not going to use it for drink/drugs. I think if a guy homeless or not got that close to look in my bag/purse he'd be on his knees. ;)

Plenty of decent charities that you can give to.

I have no problem saying no.

Freaky coincidence as today I had some girl knock at the door asking for money for under privileged kids it was ******* down with rain and she only looked about 16 (I'm sure she probably was older) and I just couldn't flat out say no to her

Instead I made up a BS excuse that my other half holds all the debit cards and she's not home till late..... I feared shed come back all night such is the determination of these door to door beggers :p

I came out of a shop and was putting the change in my wallet (bad thing to do in broad daylight) then some homeless woman came over to me wanting money so she can buy herself some tea. I gave her 50p but she wanted more, so I ended up giving her £2 and had no money for the damn bus.

Apparently beggars can be choosers. Cheeky tramp.

It's not often I say "no" but I think my life is better for it. I feel better knowing that I'm seen as approachable, helpful and reliable.

LOL

If you know you can't do it due to time commitments, I guess you have to evaluate how whether helping them, will help you in the future, if it's a no, then it's an easy no. Saying yes to something and not going through with it, is so much worse than saying no.

On a funnier note, I was out walking this weekend and overheard a conversation that made me laugh.
"It's not that I'm busy, it's just that Joe Bloggs isn't as expensive as me"
