What are your reasons for not liking Oasis?

I'm basically a Metalhead and always have been from 1970 but something really surprised me when I looked at my iPod a couple of years ago.
I make directories and fill them up with my own 'best ofs' of a certain artist.
There are only 4 artists where I have put all their back catalogue on my iPod (Slayer, Metallica, Wildhearts & Led Zeppelin).
I was looking into each directory and it went something like this:
Buddy Holly: 75 songs
Deep Purple: 47 songs
Black Sabbath: 49 songs
Budgie: 22 songs
Van Halen: 32 songs
Lamb Of God: 20 songs
Children Of Bodom: 17 songs
and so on for about 100 artists.

When I got to Oasis I had 54 songs in there
Chav-a-tastic.
I didn't know I liked them so much.

For those of you that don't like the Gallaghers voices, what do you think of this piece of brilliance?

I remember the singles Some Might Say, Whatever, Roll With It and Wonderwall being on the radio and I had no idea who the people were making this music or what their behavior was like. All I know is the music was good and a breath of fresh air at the time.
I detested music all through my youth up until this point, but went out and bought a guitar and became fairly proficient at it. Their influence on me alone has been massive.
During the Heathen Chemistry period I had completely gone off them, was far more into metal, although I'm still a huge fan of Noel's songwriting.

Oasis' arrogance factor and beer swilling football hooliganism/chavness has never been a factor for me or something I particularly associate with the music itself, although I can definitely see how it puts a lot of people off. When I first heard them on the radio I just assumed they were mature musicians and didn't really get the 'lad culture' thing at all.

They changed from Glass to plastic :(

Oh .. wait :)

I like Oasis, not my usual music choice nowadays but listening to them brings memories of summers on the Isle of Man, so I listen for nostalgia purposes :)

Did they used to be glass? I think I do remember that actually. So much better.

Yeah, it tasted so much better as well, probably laden with sugar back then, they had those metal pop tops as well, you know the ones you get on pasta sauces etc to show it hasn't already been opened/tampered with.

:) Those were the days!

I can't say that either Oasis or the Beatles have many songs that I like. Neither have any songs that I think are particularly great.

Both bands would fall way down my list of 'good' bands, despite the fact that their music is obviously very popular. I find them both to be pretty mediocre to listen to and most of their songs are very 'samey' and boring.

I don't get why you posted that, are there lyrics about Oasis in it or something?
Or did you just post it for the hell of it?
And if you did why did you post a kiddie band instead of Slayer, Lamb Of God or Children Of Bodom?

no link, its just the 'music opposite' of oasis, like kryptonite to superman :)

I 100% thought 'chav' music was all this Trance and Jungle crap that goes boom boom boom.
Oasis sounds a bit advanced to be chav music.

Slightly evolved chavs then, though still well within the domain of a chav - maybe better off financially, but still containing the chav mentality.

Also, I don't usually care about the people behind the music, so long as the music itself is good. Unfortunately, Oasis do not meet this criteria.

well i like music ranging from death metal to the boom boom chavy music, but i don't like oasis, what does that make me?

I don't mind their music but I find the Gallagher brothers to be a complete pair of utter ****s.

yes Noel and Liam are both complete **** but thats no fair argument against the music they create. unfortunately that music is also **** so you cant really win with them lot. Monotamous droaning crap that it is.
