RAZER MAMBA 2012 4G Dual Sensor

Well after a few days with mine I'm afraid I'm less than impressed.

The packaging as you would expect from Razer is exellent, the mouse itself is well made and feels good quality in use. Much like my older Deathadder. The lighting is very cool and the mouse tracks extremely well, the on the fly DPI buttons are extremely useful.

My major gripe is with the software, in particular the Firmware. Considering it is a refresh and not a completely new product I was expecting the FW to be a lot more polished than it is, especially at the asking price. 1.02 is what mine shipped with, it is stable but does have bugs with regards to the dock lighting resetting on reboot and with the mouse coming out of sleep.

1.04 I wouldn't suggest anyone use, in my case it kept dropping the wireless connection all over the place and basically made the mouse unusable. Only way to sort it was either to try and reconnect the a mouse to the reciever (which didn't work 9/10 times) or connect the cable to the mouse. Which of course defeats the object of the Mamba being wireless. It could well be that I have a faulty mouse, but my feeling is it is the Firmware at fault.

The software isn't much better, it insists on loading all the profiles everytime you want to access it, which made me delete all but one to speed things up. Saving settings is quicker thankfully, but still not what you'd call rapid.

I've gone back to 1.02 FW now and the mouse is at least usable. I've contacted Razer so we shall see what they say. I'll be honest, I'm kinda tempted to get a Deathadder Black Edition and return the Mamba, but if Tech Support can come up with a solution quick enough I'll be happy to keep it.

I'm sure others will have a better experience than I did! lol

Got my Mamba today and I have to say I'm not having the troubles your having with regards to the lighting.

I did do the same trick with the profiles as I only need one and it does save a bit more time opening up the software.

Overall impressions so far are WOW. This is a really nice upgrade from my Lachesis and it glides so well over my destructor mouse mat, it's as smooth as silk!

I'm also liking the weight of the mouse compared to my Lachesis.

Very happy so far, need to have a good gaming session now. . .

It isn't the lighting problem I'm worried about, it is the bloody dropping the wireless signal. Worse on 1.04, but it still happens on 1.02.

Maybe I have a dud who knows.

What FirmWare version did your ship with?

Mine shipped with 1.02.

Can't say I have had any drop outs with wireless. Mine is working perfect.

The more I'm using it the more I'm falling in love with it. The colour switching is amazing, it really looks great with my setup. Finally I have found the perfect mouse!

It certainly looks like a premium product.

Yeah the spectrum cycling is very nice. I really do like the mouse, just a shame mine doesn't work properly.

I've ordered a Deathadder Black Edition, so if Razer can't sort this out thats what I'll be using instead.

I ordered mine a few weeks back with ETA fo 30th of sept. Cant wait as my Mx revolution is dying slowly and being charged rather unconventionally using a 9v charger, some spade connectors and a bit of soldering :D.

I reckon you must have got a dud.

My wireless is perfect. It feels and responds just like a corded mouse. I'm quite amazed how good it is.

Well worth the money in my eyes.

As much as I love Razer's products I have to say their customer service and tech support is shockingly bad. It took them well over a week to respond to my tech support query and when I decided to return the product to them its been nothing but hassle when they should be helping.

I was even told by the CS department that they don't deal with "tech support issues" when I was actually asking for return instruction clarification. They clearly just skim the e-mails they get when they should be reading them properly. I've still not had my refund, they are claiming they didn't get the mouse back so it is no doubt going to take another 2-3 weeks until I see my money back. I certainally would never suggest ordering from them direct.

Not bashing them, just a word of warning, like I say I do like their products.

I've heard people are having nothing but problems with this new mamba, I've always been a logitech guy and was tempted to change to a mamba but think I will hold off.

Using the old mamba here but without the Razor software installed..........less buggy that way (ie works fine)
Sorry to read that the new mouse suffers from rubbish software as well. Perhaps you guys should try running it with generic drivers.....Puts me off upgrading though....:(

Sorry about bringing this thread back from the dead but I thought it would be better than starting a new one.

I've been looking at this mouse for a month for so now and I still can't make up my mind if I should get one or not as I've seen so many mixed reviews.

Have the teething problems been sorted out and is it worth £100+
