Noisy Obsidian 650D

My Akasa fan controller is coming today. I'm going to clip the mesh off and change the top and back fans. It's a bit ridiculous that so many mods need to be made on this kind of high end case just to get a balance of low noise and cool components. Strange how most reviews comment at how quiet the case fans are.

Let me know how it goes please :)

Fan controller not coming until Monday now and I'm away all. I will post back when I get a chance to mess around with it.

I hope Corsair come out with a fix before I buy mine in October when I get free shipping :).

There isn't really a fix for it, they would have to redesign he whole front end to move the HDDs back to allow the fan to be mounted further back. The simplistic fix is to cut out the front mesh, not really a problem tbh.

That fan controller looks great, may have to dig into my pockets again... Please post a picture of it in the Corsair 650D.

Thanks :)

Anybody (remotely handy with a dremel) willing to take a shot at removing the front mesh ... give me a shout as it is my last resort I think. Normally I would just move on to something else but I can't find anything that matches the look and design of this case.;)

I did get the repair kit.
I will post pics next week. It will probably be the end of the week though.
What's the best way to post pics to the forum?

Where are you in the UK? If close I would be happy to help you out :)

I will be in Bournemouth from the 18th as well.

I usually upload to www.tinypic.com, it then gives you multiple links to copy. Copy the IMG one e.g.

repair kit arrived this morning,

Will test later though I don't hold much hope for it,

Wasn't the kit to stop a buzzing noise?

I just have the high pitched noise due to the mesh :(

I must say, mine is pretty quiet. I ran it for a week without using the inbuilt fan controller (kinda noisy), and switched it over the other day (much better). The most audible thing now is my graphics card when it heats up.

Fan kit thing arrived today. I took it out of the box and I thought "I've seen this before". And it turns out I have, one actually came with the case! I just didn't realise what it actually was. I just thought it was some kind of extension.

Anyway so I got it installed and there is no stupid buzz sound! Whey! Still a slight noise issue with the front mesh + fan combination but I'm sure I can improve that. I'll have another tinker later.

Keep the tips coming, lads. My 650D is arriving this afternoon and I'll be moving my workstation over into it shortly. I'm hoping their fix kit thing will be enough, but if more is needed then I'm open to suggestions. Fingers crossed mine will just "work" out of the box. They've had forever to fix this issue. Seems odd that they would still be shipping iffy models. Maybe just trying to shift old stock?

Well my 650D just arrived and I can't find any kind of fan/controller fix kit inside it/the box. Can anyone who has this case tell me if they received the fix kit with their case? and if so, where was it placed.

Cheers,

EDIT: my model is CC650DW-1

Perhaps this is a new version with it fixed already? Just want to be sure before I install everything, fire it up and discover I need to pull it apart again to fix it.

cheers!
