The Freeman Concept (Acts and Statutes are not law brigade)

Unless you can oppose the collective might of the world, you will never be free of its judgement, rules or punishments. Its a pointless concept since all nations on this planet have all three in some form or another.

Like I say, you're blowing it way out of proportion. It's America. The right wing Christians need to be pandered to, to one degree or another. He doesn't even seem like a fundamentalist Christian either.

It doesn't matter, and I'm not blowing it out of proportion. It also doesn't matter if most of America is as closed minded and gullible that they'd support them.

Due to the current Financial Climate there is obviously a lot of associated Debt and this always boosts interest in the Freeman/Strawman Movement as there's always some guy down the Pub who'll tell you about this sure-fire way you can dodge paying for that 60" TV you just bought and can't afford :D Knowledge is power but a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

There's a few better Videos knocking around the Internet than the one in the OP too, lots of free information if you put the time in to look for it, even if you find it completely incredulous it can be an interesting topic to investigate, I'm just off to Cash-In my Birth Certificate for £999,999,999,999,999,999,999.99 ;)

It's a flawed concept stemming from an inaccurate and incomplete understanding of the law and our legal system.

However if "Freemen" really don't want to accept any of the rules that govern the UK then I can only suggest they find somewhere else to live, you do not get to elect which laws apply to you and the claims about requiring consent to be subject to the laws is a complete non-starter. If you commit a crime then claiming that the police and the courts have no jurisdiction over you holds about the same weight as Slobodan Milošević claiming not to recognise the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia - the claim is all well and good but it'll be ignored as it has no legal weight. However it appears that most "Freemen" want most of the benefits of living in our society but don't want the accompanying responsibilities that come with this, including the laws and taxation which they happen to disagree with.

This is the best summing up. Think of them as a load of people with no legal training arguing about the law. Mainly in an effort to get themselves a get-out-of-jail-free card: you'll notice that the only time you ever hear from them is when they are trying to get out of paying money, or are in front of magistrates for vehicle offences. Not a trick they will tend to try with a judge: he can have down to the cells for thirty days on the spot for Contempt, whatever you might think your "legal" rights are.

I might point out that they also seem to have no idea why it's called "common law".
