about £7 a month for the 6 month deal and about £6 a month for the year deal

very good I think, that's if theses are the deals

The price in GBP for most things is much closer to the $ price than the exchange rates would say due to VAT and such. So I would expect the the monthly fee for even the 12 month plan to be £7.50 or £8 a month. I daubt we will see exact pricing until close to release though.

I still think it would be lower.... but even 7.50 or 8 is not bad for a month of entertainment.

That companion looks annoying in the video, I hope they are not compulsory.

Thats what I was thinking too, that companion/pet looked annoying and even its voice was annoying.

I think when I play I'd rather quest without pets.

It seems daft that they've forced everyone in this game to have pets really, I understand using them for crafting but now for solo/quest/combat.

In other mmo's there would be only a couple of classes with pets, most didnt have them so you could avoid them if need be. Like when I played wow I was a hunter for a while with pets but then I preferred other dps classes afterwards where I didn't use pets.

Beta wipe incoming and new build of the game too

It'll bug the hell out of me if they're visible in public areas - I think each class getting the same companions is daft, but if you can see dozens of the same person following players around in public it'll just be taking the mick.

The same "companions" are in WoW. Every Warlock has the same looking pet, death knight and mage too.

Hunters also technically has the same pet when you reach end game and pvp.

Look the same yes but the actual same character, no. Just looking at the companions page on SWTOR and it seems to be that they are specific characters as opposed to a character from that race. Could be wrong though, I'm not in the BETA :p

Sorry i don't think i was very clear.

If you have a WoW raid of warlocks, they will all have the same pets available to them and they can choose between the pet that matches there spec.

In SWTOR a Trooper class has the same companions as other troopers, its just there choice which to use.

So in the end its the same as WoW.

Ahhh yes I see what you're getting at, it will at least look like everyone is getting followed by the same "thing" regardless of what they're actually called etc. :p

Not the end of the world really, I guess it's really good that these characters have a full background rather than just something generic.

Suppose they could have done things a little different such as allow you to create your own companion or even customise an existing one. Although I guess that would cause issues with all the voice acting and cinematics. Rather they concentrated on more important aspects of the game though :p

You can already change the colour of some of their skin, and give them armour so they look a bit different? AFAIK anyway.

All you need to imagine is everyone has a lacky, just..forget they have the same name :p

So still a couple of weeks away from beta testing then

The way things are going, I'm only going to play this game in March next year. Come the start of Dec I'm away for 3 months. :(

Yeah I get what you mean, but I think you're being deliberately obtuse - when you see a dozen wolves following hunters around, you don't think "wow, they're all the exact same wolf!", whereas when you see a dozen people all being followed by someone with the same name, it just looks wrong.

You know you want to mate ;)

Oh I do! Any year before this one I would have snapped up the CE and had lots of full days to play it. This year, however, I am on a tighter budget and could well have months where I have little time to play :(

Going to keep the CE on preorder just incase and will see what the deal is closer to release I think.
