Are UPS the world's largest courier company?

If so then why can't they specify a time slot on their delivery? All that is said on their website is 'Sedgefield, United Kingdom 08/09/2011 6:45 Out for Delivery'

DPD and a few of the others can manage it so why can't they?

Because there will always be circumstances beyond there control which means than can not guarantee delivery in an allotted time?

Well no, because other couriers DO offer timed delivery slots and do it well. The real reason is likely because they don't see commercial value in doing it.

DPD are the market leaders when it comes to tracking solutions. These solutions cost money which other couriers are currently spending elsewhere, or they just don't have it to spend in the first place.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd like to take this opportunity to say UPS is the greatest courier company EVER in my experience. Absolute quality service.

They're the largest as far as I know, but in the UK I find their services terrible, had nothing but issues with them.

At least they're not as bad as Parcel Force

For me everytime DPD has delivered something it's been within the allocated time slot. And this must be for literally tens of deliveries!! :eek:

And they normally deliver late morning / early afternoon. The UPS guy didn't get here till half 4 today

parcel force, the company that drop your package off at the nearest post office if you can't be home?

After royal mail they are by far the most convenient!

yes... But they are separate businesses as such. You can send a parcel by either royal mail or parcelforce and they have different pricing structures. The annoying thing is you can't ask RM to deliver a parcel to the post office after a missed delivery (AFAIK) although as they have depos in most towns its not a major issue.

I use couriers mainly for business , so having a drop off point etc. in this case is irrelevant

This time I have a parcel coming in, and this is the 3rd day waiting to clear customs :

"06-09-2011 21:52 International Hub Awaiting Customs clearance"

Wish I'd have used TNT or DHL, at least they're helpful when I call them.

Parcel Force only tell me "Need to call customs in coventry" , and they tell me "Awaiting to receive parcel from Parcel Force" so , just need to wait

Yes because if you work the post office is great, what with it only being open the hours you tend to spend at work
