Corsair Carbide 400R review

Not bad for under 80 quid ... just a few too many cutbacks for me personally though but should do well for Corsair.

I really think it looks good, it's going to be either this..meaning I will have to wait, or the 600T now.

Obviously there is a price difference but the 400R does look good for the money :)

Sorry to sound a little negative, but I don't think the 400/500R justify their price. Just seems a little underwhelming.

400R = 690II?
500R = 690II Advanced?

Of course, you are also paying for Corsair's build quality, support and not to mention the design but the 690II does all of this perfectly well for people already at a lower cost.

After owning a Lian Li and now a 650D, Corsair cases are well worth their price premium, the design, little extras like pre-installed standoffs and a solid centre standoff that holds the motherboard in place whilst you screw it in, instead of having to push on the side of the motherboard to line it up with the standoffs and just general design including cable management all make the Corsair cases worth it.

The 690 only has 7 PCI slots which can limit it's use with some of the higher end mobos, especially for multi GPU users, whereas the Carbide's have 8. Personally I'll pick the 500R or a PC-90 up for my next build.

Anandtech review up!

Corsair have posted pics of the 500R on facebook, think this is the one for me.
