Red or Black (tv series)

Its hardly rocket science.

The whole show is based on luck. Predicting an unknown outcome is based on luck.

Without a doubt, but I'd have thought the difference between a game-show involving a lot of luck and a true lottery would be pretty obvious to anyone on a science/technology based forum.

and thus equates to a lottery, I can't see how that doesn't breach competition rules.

I like Pointless, I'm sad and Sky plus it :(

I quite like The Chase, it's so funny when the contestants set the Chaser something like 20-25 points to get, thinking they're safe, and the Chaser just chews through all the questions in about half the time required. :D

trying to pick the person who you think has the most skill for each event. This isn't a lottery.

Thing is, in a lot of the rounds you don't have the slightest clue who stands the better chance of winning. The car-jousting, for example, was between two people who look exactly the same and you can't even see their faces. There's absolutely no way to determine, through skill or judgement, which one would win.

I'm not disputing that it is a game hugely reliant on luck. My post was in response to:

where....I'd have thought the difference between a game-show involving a lot of luck and a true lottery would be pretty obvious to anyone on a science/technology based forum.

I'm not even sure what 'competition rules' he's referring to, that would prevent 'lottery-style' games from being broadcast.

The people getting excited is what annoys me more than anything I think.

Or people who have just outrageous reasons for choosing either colour, so mad you'd think they were making it up but they're not.

It is a lottery as at the beginning of each game the order of who chooses first is random.

When your left with no choice other than black this negates any notion of trying to predict who has the most skill in any given game.

I like Countdown but I think it needs to be redirected towards the younger audience, maybe stick on at 9pm.

Fry could host I suppose and keep Rachael cos she's the finest piece of meat on TV.

Maybe get comedians on the panel too, not very creative I know but it'd be testing for 30 secs then humerous for 2 mins inbetween.

Recently found out my friend from home/school was on the show the other night - unfortunately didn't win the million.

Same. The lass called Carly from Newcastle on last night's show was someone I went to High School with. She got to the final four but didn't win. Sadly she wasn't as hot as the blonde lass from Scotland, or the brunette that were also in the final four.
