Crysis1 coming to consoles Oct 2011!!

Looks like there is no AF. The textures are much lower. There is slowdown.
Not to mention the AI etc will be dated, as Crysis is 4 years old!

I agree with the others about Crysis 2, except it felt so 'consoley' I just gave up playing it rather than forcing my way through desperately hoping for it to improve - I made that mistake with FFX-2.

Watched the vid...

"New suit modes"......

Yay consoles!

It's like the games were designed with different target markets, wonder if the console version will stay true to the original...

Crysis 2.

"Tactical options available"

Crysis 1.

"I'm a marine, son! I'll walk on water if I have to! Now get off my ****ing island while I draw its fire!"

:D

I agree with the OP. How dare they release a game on console that can make them easy money when they should've put all of their efforts in to a patch for a PC game that made them no extra money at all. Got their business strategy all wrong I'm afraid.

Quoted as i couldn't have put it better myself. Sorry i know it's a lame posting habit.

Certainly are, crysis 2 was a flop in sales for them on all platforms
Didn't it sell 3 million copies in less than 6 months which is roughly what the original sold in 3 years?

If they can pull it off, good for them. Why all the hate?
Because a lot of this generation of gamers care more about graphics than gameplay. You get people saying the game was crap one minute then saying it would've been far better with DX11 support the next :o

Yup, still makes it a flop though as even good but low-publicity games sell more than that on release month on consoles a lot of the time.

For examples the next Tales RPG, a series that's known for lacklustre sales compared to its bigger brothers, has 200,000 preorders in Japan alone and thats a single platform game. Some big releases sell well in excess of a million copies in the first 24 hours.

Seems like a crazy idea to me, but if they think it will sell then fine, as for the pc gamers bitching as usual who cares? you don't play console games anyway..

I think it's about time Crytek got back to PC gaming. Dice seems to have overtaken them and have gained much respect from both PC and console community, while the former is decreasing in Crytek's case.

I don't mind Crytek releasing games on consoles. However the lead platform must always be PC.

CryEngine 3 is a beautiful game engine and it's full potential can only be utilised on PC.

Hopefully Crysis 3 will bring back the much love lost.

It's not going to be a massive sucess, it doesn't suit the console market at all.

What criteria doesn't it suit exactly? There's tons of FPS games on the consoles.

It's a well known title that even people that aren't "hardcore" PC gamers will have heard of. I'm sure tons of people that weren't able to play it on the PC would get it.

They don't need it to outsell COD... They've already reclaimed the development costs, the porting won't have cost anywhere near the same.

Digital download only apparently. I find it amusing that Crysis 2 was essentially a reboot so Console players could clue into what was going on, then they release the original so that reboot wasn't needed at all. More of the original Characters could have appeared in crysis 2 =/

[Bold mine.]

You're joking, right? FPS AI hasn't improved much since Doom/Quake. Every FPS that claims "advanced AI" or "next-gen AI" is as big a lie as me saying I've sprouted wings and flown into the sun.

No issue with it. For all its faults Crytech have done a lot for the PC industry and haven't really had mucb back in return (Crysis 1 got pirated to death and the sequel didn't sell). Can't really blame them for giving the consoles a bit of love.

Besides both are good (if rather different) games and I actually found the Crysis 2 suite modes considerably more fluid than Crysis 1.

I can't stand FPS'ers on consoles, I remember trying to play Halo on the XBox, I just ran around shooting the floor lol. I grew up as a WASD gamer and I'll die a WASD gamer. Although I gotta say Killzone 3 is awesome on the PSMove
