Its pretty good actually.
Keyboard controls cause the game to be abit clunky at the moment but a patch should be here soon fixing that issue. For the time being 360 controller is silky smooth.
The game itself is very fun, ive spent nearly 2 hours just killing zombs and collecting what ever I can find, without even spending time on the quests yet.

mods make the killing so satisfying wait until you can electrfy your weaponsGot flying strikes on my sharps specialist tonight.
Sprinted at a zomb, jumped, attacked and got a slow motion proc while slicing upwards through neck and removing head.
aslong as you exit the game properly it saves at that point, it saves whenever you zone/fast travel aswellIs there any way to easily save the game? Exploration and killing zombies is fun, but it seems the only way you can save is by completing quests? Kind of defeats the whole "openness" of it all.

If you edit any of the files in the .pak wont that ban you from VAC?
Just got this info off steam forum, Hope this helps.
when coming to edit the file instead of putting it back in the Data0.pak just put the file into your settings folder (like this if your edit the fov, C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Data\skills\default_levels.xml, just use that same format for editing other files what are in other folders)
I am not sure if this gets around the VAC BS but it should since the files you modified are not in a folder that systems look but i have not clue about how there anti-cheating system works, If you don't want to get banned using the these tweaks just make a server that has VAC disabled.
Guys how does coop tie in with the games SP?
Can you just play whatever mission again ?
basicly coop is you entering into someone elses single player game and anything you do in their game transfers over to yours so you dont lose progress , items or anything else its all transfered olver to your own game
What happens if you haven't completed that bit in your SP? does it skip forward to the hosts missions
