This is what consolers playing CS looks like...LOL!

So easy to anonymously troll people on the internet isn't it? Your boots must feel really big right about now. I won't respond in kind but I am no idiot and there is nothing in my (whole, in context) post that hasn't been experienced by every other pc user in the world.

Sorry, but i didnt think i was trolling. I've been on this forum a bit too long for that and i wouldnt class it as being offensive..

Anyway back to the topic, going by the ops vid there is no way cross platform will work unless it only matches you up if you use a control pad.

Whoa there "matches you up?". If it has a P2P system then there wont be any PC players anyway so problem solved.

I personally don't get the whole PC vs Console argument... it's just another method of playing?

I play PC... because I play PC... It allows me to do work and game in a matter of seconds, I don't want/need a dedicated box.

Those who have 360/PS3 obviously enjoy sitting down more on a sofa or something with a larger TV, which is fine.

WHY the argument between the two? More to life.

Huh? I said that I hope that PS3 doesnt get aim assist as the guys with M+K would have an unfair advantage over PC gamers with no aim assist.

Apologies, slightly misread your post. There are however plenty of people still oblivious to the point in this thread. ;)

But even then PC will be running at higher frames so PC may still have an advantage.

Without just going "lol consoles get crap fps", do you have a technical reason to believe that the PS3 will have a frame rate low enough to give a PC player an actual advantage?

You don't get the crap like in MW where a super high FPS will let you jump higher and further with the Source engine. If the PS3 supplies a decent stable framerate, there's no reason to say that a PC gamer will have an advantage because of higher FPS.

I bet you could set up a PC and a PS3 with a M+K and hide the hardware, the majority of elitists in this thread wouldn't be able to tell the difference from gameplay alone.

I own all 3 consoles, i dont mind either one they all bring in a decent gaming experience to the table.

Variety and all that!:D

can't the Xbox owners just hook a mouse and keyboard?

Microsoft frown upon it, as well as cross platform play since Shadowrun. Iirc they shunned the idea of bringing Steam integration to their platform unlike Sony.

Precisely.

Oh no I am certain that very very few people would be able to notice a huge difference but certainly people who play higher end would be able to notice and perhaps exploit that and certainly for twitch shooters like CSS having a higher framerate can be used as an advantage. I have no reason to believe that this game will be running at 30FPS other than the fact that Valve's previous console games have only been run at 30FPS. One would hope that for a game like CSS they would make efforts to bump that up to 60 but going merely on their previous track record 30FPS is a possibility.

As bad as aiming with a joypad is at least everyone's got the same handicap. I like to play FPS games in 1080P with all the graphics turned up but multiplayer-wise you're never realistically going to be able to compete against someone running 640*480 with all of the graphics/textures turned down (which is as good as cheating imo).

Then there is monitor latency, mouse dpi and all of these other factors which can give slight advantages, consoles are the closest you're going to get to a level playing field.

host advantage on consoles is a far bigger problem than mouse dpi and monitor latency.

hardware aside I think if I was to play this on a console it just wouldn't feel right to me. I own a 360 and PC and some games just feel like they were meant to be either a PC game or a console game not both ? it was like playing halo on the PC it was just not the same.

I don't care if it's on console or PC...

What is bad is all the popup hints, I hope they can be disabled server side.

I'd be amazed if you couldn't turn it off within the game settings, if it doesn't do so automatically after a few games like it always did in the other Valve games.

I've covered this already. There is already an auto helper in CS:S for the PC

it tells you to defuse the bomb, tells you when you've spotted an enemy, when you've spotted a friend (just in case you weren't sure who the person in front of you wars)

Its designed for new people who have never played the game before. You just unstick the auto helper option in the CS:S options to turn it off.

Difference is, that CS:Go has consoles in mind, so has the 8 foot viewing distance in mind, so the prompts are larger than on the PC version, where the gamer is going to be sat < 1 foot from the screen.

It's not quite the same though is it, people who buy laptops just aren't gamers in the same sense as their desktop counterparts.

And also just because people own PCs now doesn't mean they're not on their way out. I'm pretty sure most people have DVD players in their houses, but there's no denying they're dead.

Sorry Zefan, gotto disagree! Im most definately a gamer (Arma 2, Crysis etc) and play them all on my laptop. The age of desktops is over now in my opinion as i can get a laptop thats just as powerful yet more portable so your point is rather invalid in my opinion. I got rid of desktops a few years ago and Ive never looked back sinse.

I defo go over to laptop gaming, as long as i can keep my full size keyboard, mouse and 22" screen. :D

as we all know PC gamers are the snobs of the gaming world ;)

PC Gamers are not snobs at all.

They just shout louder because there are in the minority.
They need to be heard.
Like all minority groups come to think of it.

Also I have myself a gaming mouse and a full sized keyboard with num pad so...ya know, works out best all round tbh. ;)
